Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?

Yep, you nailed it.
Jessie White is a much better player than Dawes yet cops so much criticism from supporters. Both Dawes and White have a bit of the "looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane" syndrome but gee, White's version of Jane is so much more attractive than Dawes'.
White did kick 27 goals this year.Yep, you nailed it.

A mistake? That depends if he was prepared to take a contract of a base value of 200k or 250k... I wouldn't have offered him 300k like the Saints reportedly have.... If he would have taken a 250k offer from us with no conditionals I'd personally have offered such.
I'm not questioning the size of the contract we offered. I've got no idea what's suitable. My criticism is the idea of giving a young player with injury issues a contract that encourages him to get on the park when he isn't 100% fit.Not sure too many people would have supported the type of contract offered by the Saints of almost a million dollars over three years. It is understandable why Freeman has chosen to leave and whilst it is disappointing we may end up better off.

Welcome back Timmy.
On the one hand Hine has already stated that they'll explore trade scenarios which are in our very best interests... which likely precludes sending him to the PSD.
On the other hand, it would be one mighty extended middle finger to Freeman and the AFLPA. Sure, clubs like Brisbane might be leery of picking up a player who wants to go to another club, but is Freeman prepared to sit out another year of AFL football just to get what he wants?
I think what he means is that Shaw was kicked out, rather than wanting out.Pretty sure Heath Shaw was AA this year...
It seems compensation may go towards the Treloar deal though, so that appears unlikely. If this is a shallow draft and the most we'll get is a 2nd rounder, maybe this is the year to give the middle finger?
Are you sure its that much? Im an ok guy, wheres my $500,000Yes he's a beauty. Just finished 19th in Melbourne's BnF. Kicked a whopping 11 goals in his 14 games this year.
That's some quality we badly need right there!
He's the luckiest man alive seriously. Melbourne are playing him $500,000 a year for being a good bloke.

Tried it. Seemed cool at the time
You'd have to snap up a 2nd rounder.
We got Lonie with pick 41 last year. He's no Brownlow medalist in the waiting, but a best 22 player nonetheless. I'm sure you've got your own examples of great plucks after the first round.
Outside of the expansion teams and the Dogs, you've got the best assembled young list with the addition of Treloar, a 2nd pick might be a flop, or could be the tipping point of you having great depth and steam rolling a more fancied team in future years final series.
If Saints had of taken pick 30 from the Pies for Ball, we could've grabbed Max Gawn or Sam Reid. Wouldn't have helped us in '10, but grabbing Gawn would have saved us the pick 14 we spent on Hickey years later. But we decided to be heroic and huff and puff for a player that we were pushing out of the best 22.![]()
Throw Freeman to the wolves and into the draft, if he ends up in Brisbane let Connor explain that to Nathan and any other possible future Connor Clients.

It's interesting that Paul Connors phones up SEN to clear the air about his player..... and then proceeds to speculate about and then "verbal" the Collingwood footy club. Speculate by saying that Aish is very unlikely to get to Collingwood - which is probably an educated guess considering his place in the system. I dont have much issue with him doing that, but I dont know what it's got to do with his business interests. The bit that gets me annoyed is that he verbals the Collingwood footy club by saying that it doesnt really want Aish. Did Collingwood say that to him during Freeman negotiations? I doubt it. He likes to portray himself as a man of the highest order. Well if he calls up SEN to straighten out people talking about his charge when they dont have the necessary information, then he should practice what he preaches. He should keep his mouth shut on players who havent bought his services.
Love Adams as a player but GWS have won that trade. Tay is hard at it but his foot skills are terrible, a player with such poor skills wouldn't get a game at Hawthorn. We are ranked 16th for foot disposal for a reason.
It's really sad that Heath Shaw isn't still at Collingwood. He was a flawed person but he was Collingwood to the core. He wanted the best for the club and the coach was unable to control him.
Having a team full of choir boys like our current coach is trying to implement doesn't always produce results.

If he truly wanted the best for the club, then he would have controlled his own behaviour. He's not a child.Love Adams as a player but GWS have won that trade. You'll be singing a different song, after Bucks orgistrates a Premiership.Love Adams as a player but GWS have won that trade. Tay is hard at it but his foot skills are terrible, a player with such poor skills wouldn't get a game at Hawthorn. We are ranked 16th for foot disposal for a reason.

Yep pretty true. But don't give us the BS that it isn't about maximising you earnings. It's funny how so many posters commented on how they believe the club mismanaged his hamstring injury over the past 18 months and when he decides to leave the club all of a sudden he's money hungry, pea hearted, weak so and so etc..
Our incentive based offer had the potential to earn more money than at St Kilda while Saints base offer was a lot higher.
He has no idea how long of a career he will have now and his explosive burst of pace has diminished, with no guarantees it will return.
Cut the kid some slack and take a look at it from his perspective and his families.
Footy Fans have a shocking tendancy to be so self involved that it's just about their feelings.
BS. Adams will be top 5 in the Copeland this year and he's only 22. He is still way off his peak yet. Shaw may be in AA form, but the Adams/Shaw trade is as close to a win/win trade as I've ever seen. GWS will get 5 years of solid service from Shaw, we will get 10 from Adams, and I'd be shocked if he doesn't get an AA or two by the time his career is over.Love Adams as a player but GWS have won that trade.
