Wtf he would want to go to st kinda is beyond me.
What a little rat.
Lack of opportunity is a crock of shit we've been waiting for him to get fit to give him an opportunity and if he had come good he would have been straight in to the side.
Only thing I can think of is that he thinks the medical staff suck and blames them for his injuries.
Has a really good relationship with St kilda coach from his early days who has been in his ear.
Plus his manager is a head case who just pumped his price up so high he couldn't resist. A real leach.

I had the radio on in the background so might have missed it but I can't remember it being explicitly stated Freeman was leaving because their medical staff was better. They definitely mentioned the medical staff but I didn't get the impression it was being mentioned as the primary reason for his decision. Like I said I only had it on in the background so I'm happy to be proven wrong.

That's a worry! With all our annual revenue and strength as the biggest club in the land, we should be rated as best practice in sports science & medical talent
Its about more guaranteed money and contract length. Thats fair enough.
But it is human nature to dress up money matters in a cloak of nobility.

He plays well in a well playimg side, does go missing when side goes missing.
He did want to go home IIRC, and his form for us tapered. Maybe he needed that kick up the proverbial to recapture his form.
Doubt hed make us better than what we have.
Treloar will for example
Yep he did want to go home but another talented player who didn't fit with Buck's mould. Think he wouldake a difference as his skill set in short supply at the Pies
Not in Treloar's class but we don't have a lot of speed across the ground and he is a good kick

Agree - We do lack speed in the Side/List

He would be more depth for us, assuming in form, agree.
But you do realise we got pick 18 from West Coast and got Brodie Grundy.
I call that a massive win for us.
And even now id keep Grundy well before taking Wellingham back
(granted we did have a few picks in a row)

The more I hear about Mr. Freeman and Mr Connors....I reckon they'd both make exceptional BF posters. They both seem to talk a whole lotta...........!

If that is the case then yep a good deal But u thought he was our first draft pick in that year in front of Broomhead and Kennedy?
Might be wrong

Yes i think he was first drafted, he wore 35 in his first year as first chosen.
That said, what we dont really know is if we only had 1 pick which of the 3 players would we have taken.
However, i think the general (then) consensus of the draft was we got the steal of the draft with the best ruckman of that year's draft.

Yen it I think that makes Kennedy the trade for Wellingham as f agent compensation. I'd take Wellingham if that is case
Moot point but I just liked Wellingham as a player when he was with us and going forward we have created a dearth in supply of his type

Wasnt free agent, restricted or otherwise, just a pick, 18, for player trade.
Do totally agree though, wellingham everyday over kennedy if it came to that.

Bow to your superior knowledge Saintly

Agreed on the gf and Hawks supporters almost annoyingly understated in their celebrations from Friday night
WCE has performed unbelievably given their injury list to key backs particularly. Will be better again in 2016

Interesting that Saints say this just happened of late:
St Kilda's chief operating officer Ameet Bains confirmed on Saturday the club had spoken to Freeman in the past fortnight, after contract talks broke down with the Pies. "It was something from our end that developed quite late and there is still quite a bit to work (to do) given things are pretty fresh," Bains told ABC radio. "We were an interested onlooker as Collingwood and his management group tried to navigate a contract situation with him. "In the last couple of weeks there was an opportunity to get involved and speak to Nathan. It's culminated in his decision to want to leave Collingwood." However, Bains added a trade was a long way from being finalised. "From our point of view, we’d rather not speculate [on what the trade will be] on the basis that we are yet to speak to Collingwood," he said.

Wellingham was traded for 18 which became Grundy, Kennedy was taken with our live pick at 19, Broomhead was taken at 20 which we received from Melbourne for Dawes.

so if a trade can't be finalised is it likely that we keep him and both parties move on and make it work or would he be more likely to go into the draft and we lose him for nothing?

Saints have realised that convincing one of our players to quit the club will have consequences. They are shitting themselves now.

Most commentators and so called experts are stunned at what Freeman has done.
Most think he has gone for the money and most can't believe a guy that has not played a game was holding the club to ransom.
He took me totally by surprise. I thought it would be a no brainer that he stays.
Was looking forward to see him play for us.
Instead, I will be one of many that will be booing him every time he goes near the ball - and I am not a booer.
If I was Collingwood, I would be speaking to every St.Kilda youngster out of contract in future.

Yes conners is part of this
He is doing the dangerfield as well

Agree wholeheartedly.

Although people here are frying Connors, could it be that Connors also advised Freeman to stay with us? I recall reading Connors saying somewhere he had given Freeman his advice on what he should do, without stipulating what it was, but it just gave me a hunch he might have counselled against the walk-out.

He wouldn't want to fail his medical with St Kilda.
That would be humorous indeed.

I understand st kilda believe their hammy techniques are better than ours so will probably back themselves in anyway
