Universal Love Nathan Fyfe

I don't think a guy who spends his downtime driving trucks for his dad could get full of himself.
Was at Simmonds this year when the team walked over to the fans by the race at the end of the game. They all stood around by the fence, lapping up the adoration of the small crowd of purple. Everyone from the team had their game face on - We're professionals, we've done the job, but we've got a long way to go. Everyone except for Fyfe. He had this huge goofy grin that lit up his face, that said - I know I just played blinder, I know I'm playing awesome footy and I'm really enjoying it. Pure joy. He's loving it and it's great to see.

Was probably still celebrating that awesome goal.

We got Morabito with our first round pick in the same draft didn't we?

If only...

But congrats to Fyfe for his 100th!

In honour of his 100th game, I quickly put together some of his highlights from this year. I really wanted to add some of his impressive "dont argues" but couldnt find them so if anyone can point them out, I'll update the video

That's a years highlights for most good AFL players, in seven weeks.

There was that don't argue along the wing against Essendon on Travis Colyer where Fyfe just treats him like some sort of spud and brushes him away with ease. Amazing highlights - bummed we didn't get to see the really awesome goal against Geelong where he breaks through 4 Cats.

Oops, forgot to put that goal in - probably his best of the year. Will update

Any idea what quarter the colyer one happened?

We wanted to take Fyfe with our second pick, had it lined up, then lost it by only a few selections and got Gerrick Weedon instead.

Sometimes footy kicks you in the dick.

Fyfe has played the most complete, dominant first hundred games since Chris Judd. And that might even be lineball.

Selwood is the other one usually talked about having a big first hundred recently.
Obviously stats don't tell the full story, but here is how they looked after 100 games (99 for Fyfe)

Most seem about right. Judd the more attacking player, Selwood the ball magnet, Fyfe the contested beast.

I remember a game (i believe it was against the cats) where Fyfe carried the team over the line with an amazing last quarter. I think it was in his second year. Ever since then I've really enjoyed watching him play. The game against the dogs (number 99) was no execption. He continues to get better and better. He will be a great Brownlow winner this year.

Damn that disposal efficiency.... I think this year and last he has really REALLY cleaned that up so that stat is a bit misleading now.

In his past five encounters against North Melbourne, Nat Fyfe has an average of 128.6 supercoach points. Watch him have a blinder this weekend for his 100th!

Dat contested marks stat

The image that I will never forget was the left foot snap under pressure, goal from the left forward pocket on the boundary at Subiaco against Geelong.
I think it was rd1 2012 at the three tier stand end and the camera captured Chris Scott shaking his head and smiling as he marvelled at the brilliance of Fyfey.

Also have to consider the teams all players initially started in. Selwood stats are misleading he pretty much came into a geelong side that was at its peak, would have been far easier to rack up stats with the players surrounding him.

Fair to say, Fyfe was probably the least match ready when he came into the system. Be interesting to see a comparison for their games from 50-100.

I have been reading another thread (Pendlebury v Fyfe) and the comment made was that Pendles' rating benefits from the prime time exposure that Collingwood receives. So my question is: now that Freo contains the best player in the comp, do you think we will gain more prime time exposure on FTA over east in the coming years? And do you think more people will attend matches, especially as neutrals, in order to see the #1 player 'live'? Will having Nat Fyfe in our team lift our rating/relevancy/credibility (whatever you want to call it) in Victorian eyes? They are certainly talking about us more on Fox Footy, but on the FTA national footy programs, we still receive little acknowledgement despite being at the top of the ladder.
