Yup - but even if its accidental you could get done for manslaughter.

You can do a lot of accidental stuff and still get stung by the MRP.

true, but when it is accidental and out of your control, generally you don't get done.

he may get done for negligence given he plays for the AFC (and we love being an AFL test case), but he shouldn't

Need to watch more Hawks games. Every time they are caught in a tackle, check out the same handballing attempts, but it usually the elbow hammering into the tackler's face. The've gotten away with assault for the last 3-4 years every game.

Even if he is cited, would need to be a level 3 striking offence for him to actually miss any games because of his good record.

Which means it would have to be:
Negligent and high impact
Reckless and medium impact
Or intentional.

Would be very surprised if he's cited at all but if he is, can't see it being any more than a reprimand.

Of course his fist was clenched - he was trying to punch the ball, as demanded by the umpires' interpretation of the HTB rule. He punched at least 3x that I saw, with the 1st & 3rd punches both contacting the ball (the 2nd contacted the Brisbane player's head).

Good point made, you have to be showing a ridiculous amount of effort to get rid of the ball or it is HTB. That rule could possibly cause an increase in concussions which will result in another rule change. Honestly it's getting very predictable now.
