Where do you start when talking about NBA 2K10? The thousands of new gameplay animations that were mo-capped to either replace older animations or be added to the game as new? The single-player "My Player" mode that puts you in the sneaks of an up-and-coming hoops player? The create-a-draft class option in this year's Association mode? Where do you start with a game that will mark the 10th anniversary of the long-running NBA 2K series? There are so many options to choose from, but I'd like to start in an unlikely place: commentary.

They also wanted to capture the differences between how a 7-foot player moves from how a 6-foot-9-inch player gets around the court. As a result, Yao Ming will move like Yao (assuming he ever plays again, that is), Nene will move like Nene, and Steve Nash will do his thing.

In training camp, you'll have five games to compete in, and after each game, someone will be cut. The goal, obviously, is to make sure you're left standing after the roster trimming is finished, but even if you don't make a spot on the NBA roster, your season isn't over. If you're cut, you'll be sent to the NBA's Development League (or D-League). 2K has licensed the actual NBA Development League, with all teams and accurate uniforms in the game. Your time in the D-League will be spent trying to get more playing time--mainly by making the most of the minutes you do get (using a handy simulation feature, you can fast-forward to the point in the game when you actually do get on the floor, however). Of course, nobody wants to spend his too much time grinding in the D-league, so it's reasonable to assume that if you play decently, you'll eventually get your shot at playing in the NBA, where you'll once again have to earn your minutes and establish yourself as a superstar.

wow....

looks good. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Artest looks pimp.

+1.

This game sounds so good already, I cant wait for it to come out.

This is the bit I liked the most:

This year, the team went out and partnered up with the NBA scouting service 82Games.com to provide detailed breakdowns on every team and every player in the league. The result is a better and more detailed understanding of how a player reacts at any point on the floor, with answers to such questions as, "Where does a player typically like to get the ball?" "When does he spot up?" "When does he post up?" The result, on the offensive side, is that players familiar with their team's individual tendencies will know how to best utilize them and where. On the other side of the ball, if you're facing up against Paul Pierce controlled by the AI, you'll know his tendency will be either to push in and shoot or try a pro step move. And, depending on your position on the floor, you'll know how to try to stop him.

Thats good. Thats real good.

I'm just stoked about the career mode. Always wanted it incorporated into a basketball game, and now that they have the NBDL license it is going to make it even more deep. Very, very excited.

Yeah thats a huge addition too. Will be good to try and make the big-time with your own baller. I noticed that they are going to have the option to import fan made drafts next year - I wonder if this can be incorporated into career mode. Would be cool competing for roster spots with next years talent - especially considering you know someone out there will do the whole draft accurately.

My only concern is with the sliders. Online play is so balls at the moment because of the default sliders. Hopefully 2k will adjust them so its a bit more realistic. I doubt they will make them like a proper simulation (as lots of Live/pick up gamers prefer the run and gun style) but they need to make it better than the current lot.

That "My Player" mode sounds friggen awesome. Can imagine going through the D-League (Well done on getting the license too:thumbsu:) building up to eventually dominating the NBA, so awesome. Might get back into it this year, just didn't feel it last year.

Just for those who want to know, there will be a "Special Edition" for NBA 2K10 (No idea if it will come to Aus though) and features:

  • Numbered 2K Sports Locker with combination lock (Holds 20 games)
  • Exclusive Kobe Bryant figure
  • Exclusive Kobe Bryant poster
  • NBA 2k10 Anniversary video
  • Access to VIP online lobby
Check the picture of it here: http://xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360...k10-anniversary-edition-20090630104123810.jpg

All this information is making me impatient. It''s always due out around my birthday, 18/09, every year. Anyone got a 2K10 release date?

EB told me Oct 14th.

The mere thought of 2K10 makes me jizz as I am still playing 2k9 2-3 hours a night.

Hopefully they get rid of the freezing glitch that has pwned me for 2 years. There is a particular lay up animation where you elect to pass and it freezes and cant be moved.

Happend to me last night. I was 22 up in a playoff game, 6mins to go (I play 12 min Qs) and the c unt freezes

But you might also notice a sense of space on the hardwood that simply wasn't present in previous iterations. As developers put it to me, that's because the proportions between player size and the floor had gotten a bit out of whack in older games, resulting in players that were slightly larger than in real life. The team took a look at all of the player models in NBA 2K10 and made size adjustments across the board, with the result of having a slightly more open feel to the play on the court.

Be-autiful.

Oh man that article has the juices flowing.

This screen cap is freakin sweet.

Exact same thing again.

1min 24 secs left in the 4th and THAT lay up animation freezes it again. This time I was down 16 but I will have to play game 2 of this series for a 3rd time. I have basically played 70 minutes of game twice only for it to freeze right at the end.

I had to go for a walk around the block at 2am to stop myself smashing the xbox up again

The realism is VERY high.

One thing though, why do the jersey's STILL hang above the players body? Can't they get the realistic movement and positioning of the jersey's right yet? Looks really stupid and each screenshot has had it so far.

Its not something you notice when your playing the game though. Id prefer they spend more time balancing the basic sliders than fiddly crap like the jerseys.
