Theres not much between Live and 2k, id simply now go for Live because of the better game options.

You're opinion, but come on 2k is streets ahead.
Live is nothing but arcade shit so you can score easy and EA makes easy $$$$

Though, it's quite frustrating when in 2k8 when u get like 3 layups/dunks in a row the CPU stacks the paint with players making it impossible to drive to the hoop and dunk (the Nugget's 3 point/midrange players suck). Which is why i might get Live, because i want to dunk.

By that do you mean the franchise mode? Give me the 2K association mode or whatever it's called any day of the week.

Just bought NBA live 08 on ps2, pretty much exactly the same as 07 except for a few minor gameplay changes. Pretty poor roster update - most of the players have the same ratings as 07 and all the draftees ratings are wrong. None of the draftees have any photos or proper faces. If you didn't like live 07 i wouldnt go near 08.

i got NBA live 08 on 360 and all the rookies have photos on the game, only a few internation players dont.

Yeah, Live dynasty is more realistic, and also the gameplay commentary is 1000x better than 2k.

I dont like the simulated box scores for Live though, teams like the Nets end up getting first seed and winning the whole thing and such, and guys like Steve Nash easily wins the scoring title.

dynasty mode must have changed a lot then!... in 07 when i played it seemed the stats were dominated by PF's and that there was only a few players averaging more than 20 points. plus so many menus and shit to go through every time u go to do something.....

i felt ripped off and i was playing a torrent my mate gave me!


if you like dunks and big blocks constantly then live it your game, if you liek basketball 2k is the game you always wished for.

ha and i agree nba hangtime is a better option.. but then again hangtime is pretty wicked haha

I think you'd be alone on this. Plus, it's a little difficult to get through a Dynasty when the games are unplayable. Unless you're using it as a sim, in which case it's still terrible, because the sim engine sucks.

Also, you really pick up an NBA game to play Spain-Croatia? Come on. Sure, it's nice to have if absolutely everything else is good, but if the gameplay is shotty, it's nothing but a gimmick. Yet another one from the Live series.

Later I was using Arenas to do monster dunks over Wilt Chamberlain and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar!

Were you playing on the hardest level?

Either way, all basketball games need slider tweaking...In 2K7 three-pointers and steals both need to be turned down.
In Live 05 (which is my 2nd favourite modern bball game), you need to set blocks to zero and tweak the rebounding to make it playable.

This is pretty standard, surely.

i played against a mate who used arenas in live 08, he was dunking on me everywhere....silly really. i did the bolded bit as well

I have NBA live 08 on ps2 and it sucks!!! One of the worst games i've played. And that ^^^ NBA 08 isnt a new franchise i had NBA 06. It was alright, not that great. 2K have been the best in NBA games for the last few years now, its much better.

Anyone who even says the Live series is any good from 96 onwards has litteraly no idea. NBA Live 95 was the best game to grace this planet, the 2k series rips its nuts off, you cant even compare.
