I have Cable. No longer care about NBN

Had "ADSL2" the firsr year we were here, it was absolute rubbish

Yeah copper is going to serve us well....

Have posted this before, but I have Telstra Cable Ultimate, which provides NBN speeds, but, for some bizarre reason, they've started rolling out the NBN in this area before areas that need it much more desperately.

Living in Bill Shorten's electorate was probably just a coincidence though.

Just checked the map. Haven't started yet, but they've 'commenced building' the next suburb over.

I don't really need NBN, this speed is fine for my uses, even downloading stuff. I can download movies faster than I'll ever be able to watch them, as long as the net is at that point, I'm happy.

Obviously these speeds will become obsolete one day (with bigger files/better quality movies), but really, I don't need to be able to download movies any faster than Im already able to

A sad example of the Liberal Party caring more for the PR of "balancing the books" (and selective ideology) than building quality infrastructure at a manageable cost.

Hope no one in the partyroom has a mortgage, they wouldn't want to be raging hypocrites.

...and this puts a different spin on things...

"About 19,000 homes and businesses in 15 towns across Australia face having their phone and internet services cut off when copper lines that connect them are switched off in 45 days, National Broadband Network Company chairman Ziggy Switkowski warned on Tuesday.
At a speech at the CommsDay conference in Sydney, Dr Switkowski said 19,000 premises still hadn't switched to an NBN fibre service and would face having no phone or internet from May 23.
The switch off is dictated by a clause in the national broadband network contract that states Telstra's copper must be disconnected 18 months after fibre is deployed to an area. This clause was inserted by the Labor government so Telstra could not compete with the NBN at a wholesale level."

4. Are you disappointed that the Liberal Party are bastardising the idea by providing the Australian public with a poorer quality version of the NBN, under the guise of doing it "quicker" and "cheaper"?

Its not coming here until late 2015, and that was according to the original schedule. With the delays, and a very strong chance it will be pulled completely in the budget, we'll be stuck with Telstra's dodgy copper (and refusal to fix faults) for many years to come.

Don't see what the big deal is, you can only watch 1 stream at a time.

Looked at the NBN rollout map and it's not available in my street, but in the new estate, which is literally the street behind my place, It's available!

Pissed off.

Anyway, I'd be curious to know if not having the NBN available at one's property will negatively affect the sale price of that property?

Has been the case here as well...a new estate on the other side of the street has had it for at least 8 months.

I have often wondered about an extension lead DIY....

Was supposed to be June 2015 but **** knows now. Stuck with ADSL 'top hat' and paying for a phone line I don't use until then.
