It's probably a trick question.

Possible answers:

30
26 (in 1752 Julian calendar adjustment- but only in the UK - other empires did it in the 1500s
7 - days of the week.
3 (Today, yesterday, tomorrow - but what about 'the day before yesterday' and 'the day after tomorrow'?)
0 (September 2011 hasn't happened yet).

It could be based somehow on the Japanese Earthquake shortening the spin of the earth, so September this year will only have 29.999999999999998 days.

Get the question specified exactly. If it turns out to be a 'gotcha' as above, refuse to pay the little twerp.

Thanks man, I'll run this past him before any money is exchanged.

I suspect the "trick" answer is 7.
The "3" answer would only be valid IN September (and not on the first or last day of September either).
