Ever wondered what happened to the Dockers of 96? Have a look how many Neesham has taken on at Clontarf:

http://www.clontarffootball.com/content.php?req=3

Matt Clucas is an elephant now. Nathan Mourish has put on a few kilo's as well.

Maybe its because the Freo players of 96 found it so difficult to get jobs elsewhere (courtesy of being a Neesham Docker) that they had to turn back to their mentor!

A sensible person would have pointed it out and thought that is was fantastic that they have so much respect for what Neesham is trying to do that they've signed on board for a worthwhile venture in turning around the lives of some many kids who would have otherwise been lost.

But no, you had to go and try and be a ******** about it. Well done.
I hope you're proud of your achievements in life, because what Neesham has done with Clontarf f**king shits all over you.

I think it's more jobs for the boys.

Isn't that how Neesham originally recruited? If you played for Claremont then you were in?

Neesham has done great with Clontarf and deserves heaps of credit for that but as an AFL coach Neesham was a bloody muppet.

Neesham was 10 years ahead of the times.
The kind of players running around now and the game style is alot like what he was trying to do.

And hes doing great things at clontarf

That's true, but IMO he didn't have the cattle to do it though.

Always amazes me how many f'wits there are on these boards. Quite pathetic how keyboard warriers cooped up in their bedrooms can take the piss out of people helping out the less fortunate.

Anyway, Neesham was by far the best coach Fremantle has ever had, so far in front of the rest it beggars belief and it is great to see he's doing a good job with Clontarf.

Jesus talk about finding a gremlin when there was never one there.

One guy on here got it right - point is its jobs for the boys - as Neesham has always done.

Nothing against Clontarf or what has been achieved there whatsoever.

Its nepotism. Are we saying that the only players capable of doing the job that these boys do were Fremantle boys that played under Neesham? Are they the most qualified? More qualified than anyone from the West Coast or other AFL teams?

Its plain old nepotism - which is a form of corruption.

Just to make sure I am not being taken out of context - Clontarf does fantastic things and I have nothing against it!!!!!!!!!!!

It would pay however if Neesham looked further than his mates when appointing people for jobs and selected on merit instead.

I don't know how anyone can defend him for selecting most of the Claremont side in the original Dockers side.

Didn't realise every person working for Clontarf played for the Dockers under Neesham. How many games did Andrea Goddard play?

The only bloke who agrees with you is a clown as well.

I'll defend him; Claremont, under Neesaham, had dominated the WAFL for the previous 8 years:

1994 East Fremantle 13.13 (91) Claremont 10.10 (70)
1993 Claremont 13.14 (92) West Perth 8.14 (62)
1992 East Fremantle 12.19 (91) South Fremantle 9.13 (73)
1991 Claremont 19.18 (126) Subiaco 8.7 (55)
1990 Swan Districts 16.7 (103) Claremont 10.17 (77)
1989 Claremont 15.16 (106) South Fremantle 5.9 (39)
1988 Subiaco 19.8 (122) Claremont 8.12 (60)
1987 Claremont 20.20 (140) Subiaco 10.9 (69)

Four flags, seven grand finals, the Tigers were a WAFL powerhouse. He'd been their coach and he knew the players. The Freo team was going to be made up of players from the WAFL, so he would have been wilfully negligent to do it any other way, surely?

And in regards to nepotism, and jobs for the boys, unless you've got evidence that's outrageous. Did players from other clubs apply for these positions? I can't imagine that they are highly paid. And Clontarf looks full of people from a variety of different backgrounds, not just ex Freo players. And how can you possibly say that weren't selected on merit?

I was not a great fan of Neeshams as a coach but his work with Clontarf has been inspired. You accusing him of nepotism greatly diminishes his good work. :(

I can understand his reasoning, by bringing in his own players he could have a large number of the team already aware of his methods and set plays. Problem was the players weren't fast enough, fit enough or good enough to execute them to an AFL standard.

Neesham single handledly crippled the club and to this day has allot to answer for.

That said...Does his game plan not remind you allot of the current day rolling zone? For all his arogance he was onto something..

He keeps on keeping on Gerard does.
Commetti gave him a mention today back page footy lift out The West. Most of the article was about the Hawks and their game plan.
Dennis can be bit slippery but as I read it he sought of gave Neesham a backhanded compliment about how he won 8 games in 1995 with a 'how' not the 'who'.

He finished by saying " Further inspection at the time would have revealed Gerald had an Iphone and constantly used twitter"
Sorry cant find a link.

Still reinforces what a lot of us have said over the years. Neesham was way ahead of his time.
I still get pissed off when I think how Club shot itself in the foot at that time. It would seem FFC have a bloody big magazine and keep pulling the trigger.
