From what they are saying on AA, brompton is unlikely as developers are offering more money. And Thebarton will be a shitshow for 10 years with south rd works taking some of the current oval space and a huge superway being built out the front
The oval they are talking about re Theebby is Kings reserve, where there's plan for a second Oval,
Thebby Oval itself is not being touched by the South Road project.
So all that means is they have to make do with 1 training oval for another 10 years, after that they will have two ovals.

In a letter to Mr Buss on October 20, Mr Braxton-Smith said the “immediate priorities” for further work included:

TORRENSVILLE Bowling Club relocation.

THEBARTON Community Centre “relocation options in the vicinity of Richmond Oval”.

KINGS Reserve masterplan and Thebarton Oval “realignment proposal”.

THEBARTON Bioscience precinct and open spaces.

Re the bowling greens Believe south road upgrade was the main reason they relocated there Bowling green 60m west, That may have changed.
As for the Oval Kings reserve which currently has a soccer field will be used for rubble and storage for the Northern tunnels.

The community centre is gone in every plan I have seen.

Worse case is thebby will require a slight change aligning the oval to the same direction as Adelaide Oval which has been mentioned, that would put the main oval about 100m plus from south rd.

Have you seen Kurrulta Park? Nothing but high density now. Every single house is being replaced with 6-8 units. Absolute mayhem

It's not mayhem, it's exactly what should be being built in an inner city suburb - Adelaide is desperately in need of a concrete wall to stop further real estate developer driven, damaging urban sprawl (before Gawler, Willunga, and Strathalbyn turn into outer suburbs), and a good two to three decades of increased density in the CBD and the inner suburbs, just to make services affordable again.

Looks like the Northern tunnel (ANZAC Hwy to River Torrens) will be the last thing built. So 2026-2030. With all the rubble and dirt being pumped out right next to Thebby Oval - surely that is not optimal for an AFL team?

If Brompton isn't going to work - hold out at West Lakes for longer until a Parklands option becomes available or aim for 2030 when South Rd/Thebarton Oval will be finished. West Lakes must surely be just about finished now and will at least be a nice place to be without major works going on.

It really leaves us with very few options.

I still think the old West End Brewery site would have been best
Or stay where we are.

Starting to look nice now. This time next year will be nearly completed.

Thebby Oval will part of a construction site for at least 10 years. The second oval unusable.

If we can't go to Brompton we should stay put. Upgrade the existing building if it is out of date.

We probably would if we could. We have a ticking deadline where we'll be kicked out of West Lakes by 2048 and we're seeing how long it takes to try acquiring a new home - the years we've spent trying for North Adelaide and getting nowhere - you want to wait until we're about to be kicked out to start looking for a new home?

Hopefully a good number of the 30 or so possible options I think Fagan mentioned they were looking at remain should Brompton/Thebby also go legs up.

Well if you like living in a hebel clad box, that’s fine I guess, if you like hearing your neighbour stir a cuppa.
Many seek the outer limits to get that sense of having their own patch. Besides the areas you’ve mentioned are already there considering the amount of development there.

Just need to hope that Olsen can use his strings and get this in our favor. We can’t keep building on every parcel of land that pops up.

Yay for ICAC for every situation that we secure a sight.

That's fine, but then don't complain services are expensive and low frequency and rates are high.
