GEELONG has devised a new alternative guernsey and surprise, surprise the Cats have stuck with their hoops.

They won't, however, be the traditional blue and white that so often caused confusion in games against clubs with striped uniforms.

Instead, the royal blue will be contrasted with a lighter blue and a white armholes in a guernsey with a tapered body.

Geelong members will be asked to allow the club to alter its constitution in order to introduce the new design, which already has won player approval.

I've seen the new top, it's pretty good! I don't mind us changing the top, as long as we don't go too over the top.

But IMO it's OK!!

Go Cats!!:)

I think (don't quote me on this if wrong) that it's in the latest addition of the WAG Magazine, to be distributed to members soon.

I will have to check it up... ;)

Good question, Tashi...

Not just with North Melbourne, but the few games a season where there are kit clashes with the likes of Carlton and Collingwood as well. Mind you, it seems like the 2,378th attempt to rectify these kit clashes.

Hopefully, someday we'll get it right-- and hopefully as well, this is the one that does.

I, too, would like to see an image of this change strip. Can someone scan a pic and post it?

Cheers,
William

...can we have Brian Cook back now? :p

No. Not until we win a flag, then he might even want to stay longer, during our dynasty!!!!

Seriously, I think Cooky is staying until the debt is cleared and the club is in a good state, financially and on field so it can be passed on to someone else to continue the great job he has done in the past 4 years.

I'm not that impressed with the jumper, but we'd only have to wear it 2-3 times a year so it's not a huge issue. Still its a hell of a lot better than the other one that resembled Carltons

I am starting to think that the jumber looks ordinary... but want to give it a chance for a year or two.

I'm not sure about "ordinary" looking-- but while the hoops are intact, I think for most people, it might be the kind of look that could grow on some people over time, so I'm willing to give it a chance as well.

Cheers,
William

As long as Geelong win when wearing the new jumper, I'll be happy. :D

I'm sure those of us who pull for the blue-and-white (or two-tone blue) hoops share your sentiments, my friend. :D

I've said it before-- top-six finish this year. And that's regardless of the colour combinations of the blue hoops, but rather based on the players wearing them.

Cheers,
William

Well, my opinion of the jumper is that it looks a bit ordinary. However I am not voting for the jumper, I voted to change the constitution to allow such a jumper to be made, so it can always be improved upon.

I filled out BC as my nominated proxy.

Well, I can honestly say that I am not really taken with that design - maybe it is just that I am so used to the other jersey but I would much prefer to keep the jersey we have, it has history of the club in that original design. Just my humble opinion folks.

Keep smiling

I can understand some people thinking along those lines, but remember it is only for a couple of matches each season when we play away and our jumper clashes with the opposition.

I think this could also me a money maker for our club if it's promoted properly... there are people out there who will purchase this jumper and that can only be a good thing for our club.

And maybe we could get Ron Hovey back as president, and as part of his 'only employ Geelong people' policy, we could sack Brian Cook (he's done bugger all anyway) and make Brent Grgic's Dad the CEO.

Then we could look at the coaching situation... P1SS OFF Bomber, you're not from around our parts. Bring back the Flyer, Bobby Davis!! His spirit (read: dementia) would be infectious.

Now, for pre-game entertainment... perhaps some duelling Banjo's as the Beaumont Pie does a jig?

IT'S SEASON 2003 FOLKS. THE CLUB SHOULD BE APPLAUDED FOR THEIR INITIATIVE.
Besides, it is the same as our current Away jumper, except with a 50% Blue! That ISN'T history (it's 3 years old!), IT'S GREAT MARKETING!

I am happy with alternative top being voted in! Obviously, the players need it as the speed of the game is speeding up, and jumper clashes are becoming more, and more apart of the game.

Really, it is only for a couple of games a season, and could be quite a collectable item in years to come.

Good on the GFC for doing this too!

Speaking of Geelong jumpers, I picked up a Geelong 'home' jumper for half price from The AFL Shop on the weekend as they were getting rid of the old FILA gear. I thought $50 was pretty good value for an AFl jumper. :)

They had other stuff there too at discounted prices... beanies, scarlves, t-shirts, etc etc.

Well worth a look in my opinion.

I might also add that the AFL Shop at Wendouree Village has all sorts of discounts and bargains as well, too. So it's not just those in Melbourne, but out here around Ballarat as well. :)

Cheers,
William

The Cats Shop would probably have a ‘bargain bin' with all the old FILA stuff. I haven't been to the Cats Shop since before it closed around December, so unless they took all the old FILA stock away during that period, there should be some good bargains there! :)
