"WEST COAST is poised to offer coach John Worsfold a new deal in the near future that would make the dual premiership captain the club's longest serving coach."

Despite all the doubters and people questioning you and the staff (myself included at times) im very pleased that this is happening and although it looked as though it was only a matter of time now that we've locked away almost all of the important players i think its fitting and woosh deserves a big pat on the back and the uniform support that a legend of the club such as himself deserves.

I never once said a bad word about woosh and was always aware that we were shit because we had shit/injured/young players.

Glad he is re-signed but I think they should have waited until the end of the year, standards may slip a little if there complacency.

There's nothing in the article to suggest they won't.

This is a nothing article. All it says is the Eagles will offer Worsfold another contract and that Cransberg expects him to accept it. My understanding is that Woosha wants three years, but the club only wnats to give him 2.

I don't think complacency would slip in - after all, I'm sure Woosha would've known he was a near shoo-in to get a new contract at the end of the season given how the team has been performing so far in 2011.

I imagine Cransberg just said that they will offer him a new contract and the terms will be nutted out after the end of the season.

Hope they wait to the end of the season . Also hope its only a two year contract to see this group through to there full potential .

Funny how on TFS last night , Paul Roos has said he wont coach anywhere in the next 12 months and coincidentally Cranny comes out with new contract talks for Woosha ;)

Here's a couple more related articles:

Article: West Coast signal new Woosha deal by Steve Butler, The West Australian

"There's no dramas, he's earned the right to keep going," Cransberg said bluntly. "We haven't done anything confirming that, but that will be his intent and our intent.

Article: Woosha to stay on with Eagles by Jay Clark, Herald Sun

“He’s got such good integrity that he wanted to do what was right for him and for the club, so we agreed to let it run all year. That’s something we'll tidy up at the end of the year and there’s no issue at all from my point of view, or his.

If Woosha's agent is half decent, he'll wait til' after we win our first final and demand 3-4 years.

There is no way, with his resume, that he should accept anything less.

Joking, right?

I could never understand the vitriol he was copping from some quarters the last year or two (not from BF; I wasn't here so can't comment but more from the everyday WCE fans)

The man's a Champion and a Legend - his efforts lay the ground work not just for a legacy of success for the West Coast (an expectation of success which far too many West Coast supporters I know take for granted), but for West Australian football generally.

Good on him, I say. I hope the deal he got was as weighty as Monkey Brennan. :D

Looking at the way the season is going and how the players have stepped up this season I don't see why a 3 year contract wouldn't be fair, especially if this group is going to be together for awhile. I think Woosha has more than earned it.

Coming off 3 awful years, with only this year as a basis for a new contract, how can it be said that such is worthy of a 3 year extension? If Woosha at least had the 2 previous years of finals appearances, then yes, that would be worthy of a 3 year deal. 1 good year isn't enough to be throwing a 3 year deal at, IMO. WC should act cautiously and offer 2. If good results, such as playing in finals, continue over the next 2 years, Woosha will have built up some continuity of good results and thus be deserving of an extended contract period.

For me, three years! He deserves it and there's no one better to take the Eagles forward - wouldn't want anyone else, thank you!
