The club will announce today that (Dyson) Heppell is one of six Bombers signed to new deals, with midfielders Heath Hocking and Jason Winderlich, defender Cale Hooker and rookie forward Stuart Crameri - all out of contract at year's end - committing to multi-year agreements

It is also understood ruckman Tom Bellchambers signed a two-year deal to remain at the club until 2013.

Re: New contracts for six (Hearld Sun)

All 6 = good news.

Here's hoping we get a few boys up this year as well.
Hoping to see Steinberg and Gumby in coming weeks.
And god forbid a little Darcy Danniher.

Most happy with the Belly signing. He would be open to some big offer methinks.

Re: New contracts for six (Hearld Sun)

No surprised that Winderlich was offered a new contract.

Think that the coaching team were happy with the role he played in 2011 - Before he was injured.

Re: New contracts for six (Hearld Sun)

Excellent news. Now we can put behind us all that bullshit about only playing Bellchambers to keep him happy so he signs.

As always players will be picked on their performance.

Re: New contracts for six (Hearld Sun)

Great news on all 6, not surprised most of those guys signed, Belly signing now is awesome!!

Re: New contracts for six (Hearld Sun)

good sign of team unity with Bellchambers signing up - likely that GWS would already have been in his ear with an offer much more substantial than the deal he has just penned

Re: New contracts for six (Hearld Sun)

Great news. But im not a fan of these short contracts, open to too much scrutiny because of them. Especially with promising stars like Heppell!! Would be good to have them locked in for longer periods. Belly is a good solid ruck, im happy with that one too!! Does this mean Ryder may well get to have his dream of playing ruck solely? If Hille comes in to play forward and pinch hit in the ruck, we can keep Ryder happy and have him do the majority of the ruck work. Or will we continue with the 3 ruck experiment?

Re: New contracts for six (Hearld Sun)

A few on this board thought he may not be offered a contract in 2012.

I was one who thought it may be a 50/50 call based more on recovery time than any form issues.

Great news for the Bombers, just as an aside I think Hooker is only ever going to be able to be played as that floating backman to intercept balls coming in, as he just seems wayyy to slow to be accountable to the modern forwards. I love him as the floating (Brian Lake, Dustin Fletcher, Nick Maxwell) type though...

2 years is a lot for someone coming off a knee where pace is his supposed strength and a bodgy back that hampers his ability to play midfield.

Reckon after 2 years he will be finished. I would have given him 1 with the offer of 2 with decent form. Still - I guess it is not too much of a risk, however they did offer McVeigh 2 and I reckon he is finished now and we still have one more year to run on his contract.

As for the rest - great news.

Good for Stu to get his contract, TBell wrapped up - so no issues about GWS.

Heppell is a must - so great he is locked away for an extra year.

Hooker is also a must and I reckon the WA teams would have been in to him with some of their key back players getting on.

Hardingham like Stu deserve their contracts on the back of hard work and consistent performance.

So you'd rather long term contracts like what Mercuri got?

Great news the signings, very happy.

Re: New contracts for six (Hearld Sun)

Wasn't Winderlich contracted for next year? In which case it is only a 1 year extension?
