It's not always easy to play nice and there isn't a lot wrong with a little heat, but as long as there's a view being put forward.

Saying nothing gets way too much of a say though. :)

It is fairly easy to play nice Harks.

There are ways of articulating a post without having to resort to name calling, abuse and personal attacks.

believe me, saying nothing OFTEN outshines some of the things said...........over.........and over...........and over..........saying a lot and saying it repeatedly is no indication of merit of opinion............

One needs to look at ones self and think is that hole in the donut really a hole or really something else...

Fair point. Can't argue with that, but sometimes one gets reeled into the same discussions and then again, what the **** else are we going to talk about right now? There isn't a hell of a lot is there?

Each to their own but I'd sooner get a punch in the mouth from JaB, Arr0w, Terry Wallett etc than for most of the other content on show this time of the year.
Maybe time for a 'Best 3' thread. Haven't done one of them for a while. :)

I have always struggled to decide who to give credit, for certain aspects of improvement. Is the financial turnaround due to the CEO or is it the board? Does Lloyd get the credit for getting Russel, Power? Who got Prendergast?

I agree with a lot in your post, i still think you're underestimating the difficulty in continually growing your membership base. Our last period of good footy where we played finals and had a very exciting list, with the leagues best player, didn't deliver strong membership growth, im not sure what our financial position was though for that time.

Im just saying, if it was so easy, every club playing finals or every club who is rebuilding (like us) would be increasing every year at a record pace, which isn't the case. I see our club as having a very large supporter base thats largely been dormant, as in, hasn't translated to people signing up. I don't know why that is, but hopefully the big increase in members is because people at the club do.

Our on field performance in the last 4 years has been diabolical, Fitzroy levels bad, yet our of field growth has been fantastic, not just in members, this in itself, is something we should all be proud of.

Hey, if you don’t mind, please tell your sauce to tell the membership guru, assuming the membership guru isn’t your sauce, to drag himself away from sales and LM matters, so he can oversee other officials and things that CEO‘s typically oversee; particularly the official responsible for the CFC website, which’s been rather shithouse of late. Thanks.

The people appointing them with no clear strategy about list management were just as responsible in my eyes. There was no clear strategy to see in the time overall Just a year to year list adjustment without an overall strategy. Always frustrated me.

It looked like we finally woke up in 2015 to actually having a strategy lead by SOS.
Await to see if we continue what he set up or have learned nothing and lost the IP he was setting up for our club in this super important area.
I see it completely differently, we just didn’t recruit well enough. Back then we built a spine extremely early in the rebuild, got absolute top end midfield talents and then tried to round the list out. Sound Familiar?

We done exactly the same back then as we are doing now, bottomed out to get top end picks, built the midfield and KPP’s but we just failed in the second part of it. The part where you have to bring it all together, the part we now have to nail.

Cheers, ill let my dad know.

:) More of the same - No content, but let's just attack the poster....and then add some....let's just call it fabrication, shall we?

I have posts littered through here, as to what I thought about the good and bad per SOS.
Much more good than bad though and I thought the not-so-good component of his List Management was fixable.

MLG? I applauded him when I had cause to and won't applaud him when there's no cause to.......but somehow this is an agenda.

Ponder on this -
Versed football people say that there are five key pillars in an AFL environment. 1. President 2. CEO 3. Coach 4. List Manager 5. Head of Football
Through the course of our rebuild, only one of those key pillars remain and look who it is. We can make of that what we will.

Richmond on the other hand have had their 5 pillars intact since 2014 and only added one component albeit an important component - Neil Balme.

Probably just more coincidence right?
I just don't see it that way.....so I have the odd shot at our club for being what they are - There may just be a reason for it...but you just keep EFA'ing. :)

So it took 7 years for the Tigers to get all their ducks in a row?

Glad we are ahead of schedule

isn’t it believe you me

Skull Face I look at it this way - If someone is hitting the projected targets, I can't bag them for it.
Do you think the CFC would be happy should we click over 75K next year? They wouldn't have dreamt of that given our recent rate of increase.

Here are the numbers and in answer to your question - You can figure it out. Just look at the 2005 numbers and you'll see what I see.
The level of growth under Liddles watch is like nothing we've seen before. The numbers are in clear sight and to suggest that anyone could have done it, is just a little disingenuous....maybe a lot, actually.
What part of I am done did you not get, move along.

You were wrong. Admit it.
I gave you facts and you don't like them. No harm done.

New List Manager?
It seems that if we haven't hit our target by now, the harder it may get.
Wouldn't those that were required by their clubs be committed to contracts by now?
Could we end up with a back to the future moment, where a collective does all the work - LM/Recruiter, HoF, CEO and Pres?

Not sure I follow on this one. A contract won't stop someone jumping for a promotion/pay rise. The itks seem pretty quiet on any details with this one which is fine by me. I think the player manager is the most likely personally.

I'm not sure either but there is a dilemma at hand as the planning would already be in place.....you'd think.
To then take that IP to another club may be just a little 'not quite right' I guess that won't stop many, but some may find it unfair to their club.

It won't likely happen, but I wouldn't be surprised for the group to come together for next year as if Agresta was never considered to take the principle role, it wouldn't look right to hand it over now, just because we couldn't find anyone.

We're a while away from any meaningful decisions on the list being made- I agree that poaching the head honcho from another club might cause a little angst but now is probably a better time than any other to be executing the search. I get the impression it won't be Agresta.

Maybe, but it's somewhat flawed to think that what came about for one club under one set of conditions will come about for another under a different set of conditions. Yes, we could do a Brisbane, but we could do a Melbourne. We could do a Richmond or may just become an Essendon.

I don't see that we have our ducks anywhere close to being in a row; No List Manager, weak leadership, no continuity within our group....
It's messy to me and just can't see a concrete reason as to why it won't be messy in the future...and wishful thinking doesn't count.

What have we got at club level that will underpin our planning to come to fruition?
