When the alignment with EP occurred, I assumed that was the end of the Lathlain Park development. It doesn't make sense to me

Our alignment with East Perth comes to an end in what 2017.

Runway may be overdone, however once both clubs have bedded down (and paid for) their new training digs I daresay travel will be the next agenda item.
Yeah, haha runway was obnoxious, but private jet is definitely something I can see us looking into down the track. It seems we're always having problems with airlines, especially when it comes to our big men being cramped.

Where will East Perth train? Where will Perth train? Surely an alignment with Perth would have made more sense.
The WAFL allignmemt is a short term move. East Perth were interested, Perth weren't.

And we can pay for Nic Nat's pilot license to make the entire experience 10000 times cooler.

Good to hear the wheels are getting into motion. I like the idea of the two training grounds as well with one matched specifically to the MCG. I know at the end of the day it's the same as Patersons because its a ground with 4 posts at each but especially come September something like this would be invaluable

And a good little function area for the fans and members post matches

am loving this news. I have recently purchased a house and land package in Cannington. I can take a short 20 minute trip to the game at Burswood, and stop in on the club rooms at Lathlain on the way home. :)

Are Fremantle still gonna go around calling themselves Fremantle after they move? That would make as much sense as us calling ourselves the Geraldton Eagles

Bit like the Vic clubs, St.Kilda are now loitering along the eastern metropolitan urban fringe and Essendon are moving to Tullarmarine (where Melb airport is), so seems to be the in vogue thing to do.

Not sure where they are going to fit it all...

But I am sure that have done their due diligence

Pretty easily id imagine.

Knock down existing PFC headquarters and realign the existing oval so it runs parallel to Goddard St.

Yes, but it's not just two ovals. In that area they have to fit:

  • Two new ovals, one the size of the MCG, the other matching the dimensions of the new Perth Stadium at Burswood.
  • A synthetic running track around the perimeter of one of the ovals.
  • Rejuvenation of the entire Lathlain Park precinct, including BBQ areas, community running/walking tracks, playgrounds and landscaping.
  • A best-practice gymnasium, aquatic recovery, medical, coaching and playing development areas.
  • An indoor lap pool and large indoor training area.
  • Flexible education areas, including dedicated facilities as well for the club’s community programs.
  • A new home for the David Wirrpanda Foundation.
  • Community hub, including a café, merchandise store and club museum.
  • New and improved clubrooms, including function facility for the Perth Football Club.
Plus they'll need parking facilities. Looks like a pretty tight squeeze to me. Maybe they intend to make use of the "Tom Wright Reserve" across the road?

Tom Wright Reserve is only the small, grassed area on the far right. The rest is the site of the old bowling club that was levelled a few years ago and is owned by the council so I'm guessing it is intended to be used.

Not as simples as just knocking down the PFC headquarters...from memory parts of it are actually Heritage listed, like the grandstand which is identical to the ones at Perth oval & Leederville...

Would there be anything to stop them superimposing a portion of the second oval over part of the existing oval? That way they could have two different sized ovals without needing the space for two complete ovals, similar to a gymnasium with netball and basketball courts using the same space.

The talk was about parking on one of the ovals

Finally, the facilities we deserve.. Lots to look forward to![/quote
I know I support Freo but personslly this sucks. I live on Bishopsgate St so thr oval is my neighbour. There was no real community consultation by either the Eagles or the council. I am fearful of the extra traffic this will bring to our dtrret snd the school precient. Plud it means thr Lathlain plan will be significantly downgraded. Fyi: I wounld be this nimby too if is was Freo
