Just thinking back to an article written by Martin Flanagan late last year, Schwabby mentioned this about a possible jumper change for the Demons:

Schwab gets the present Melbourne jumper and lays it beside Barassi's jumper from the 1960s. "Look at the difference in the colours." he says. The red in Barassi's guernsey is blood red, the blue is true navy blue — only a hint less severe than black. He describes the red in the present guernsey as "tomato red" and says there's purple in the blue. He's right on both counts. The original is stronger, bolder, more brilliant. "That's what we're going back to," he says.

I think this is the jumper Schwab is referring to:thumbsu:

I can't wait to see Scully, Watts, Grimes et al. running around in the true Dees' colours next year. Does anyone know if this is still the plan? If i remember correctly, the club was contractually obliged to keep the same jumper for 2009 but now we are free to revert back to the swinging 60's jumper for 2010?

I don't think they are recommending anything outrageous, I just think (and hope) they will take some purple out of the blue and get the red stronger. I'm not sure its going to look as good as that jumper. Definite supporter of the collar though, bring it back!

it does look good, but i'll be annoyed if my 2-month-old melbourne jumper (with no. 16) is superceded.
also it does remind me of essendon's strip.

Ditto except my order was placed TONIGHT! Exact same number too :thumbsu: Grime Time Baby :)

Talk is that Reebok are gone for next year and ISC (who do the Saints and Cats jumpers) are signed on, this from a very reliable industry insider who's just signed up the Dogs for next year's jumpers. Hopefully we get something that's a bit more brutal looking.

The shiny nature of the performance fabric they use these days may not have the same meaty colour qualities of the old woollen styles, which may account for the 'tomatoey' colour they give off...

ISC collapsed on their arse earlier this year. Unless, I've missed something, they won't be doing too much from now on.

You may have, Tex, we've been buying Geelong and Saints jumpers from them in our store all season long. I did hear that they were in trouble, and the same story that they'd gone bust, but they're still operating.

I like the new old school jumper, I wouldn't mind seeing it out in the pre-season or something along those lines.

If it works i'll buy a new one, and I do like the new ones we had this year!

update: this from Cam Schwab on Twitter earlier today:

'blue slightly less severe than black and deep blood red' without compromising need for modern performance fabric. Close.

Thanks to drewwarnesimth for asking the question
