I reckon Lachlan Hansen could be a good pick up for the bench. Into his second year now and is bound to get some more game time, especially as he is at the Kangaroos and they will need to start playing him so he is ready to take over from Thompson when the time comes in the next year or two. He will also be very cheap.

while on kangarros....any thought on robbie tarrant...in a side lacking forwards could he get game time this year?

Thats a question i have asked myself, it's a difficult one... I would think he will debut but i wouldn't imagine he'd play more than 5 games. I hope Hansen plays more, as he is a big chance to get a position on my FWD bench in '08...

I reckon that masten will play the most outta these guys purely because there is a bit of an opening in the WC midfield. However kruezer and cotchin will be up there. No idea tho bout least maybe henderson but seriously no idea lol.;)
Way off the mark mate. Masten's got OP and is really struggling. Like someone else said expect more games from Palmer. Him, Myres (Essendon will blood alot this year) and Cotchin IMO are the only players from the top 10 capable of playing at least half a season.

I'll be keeping a close on the players outside the top ten over the preseason.

Everyone else will know about the top ten and probably pick a few of them in their side. Also if it is like last year the top ten players will cost more than the other draftees.

Thats where Ebert and Vezpremi come into it, 11 and 13... should be cheap... what do you all think?

Ebert was bottom aged, and unless Sydney has a big change of approach I'm not sure if I'd go with any of their youngsters. Maybe Craig Bird would be a shot with them, as might O'Keefe from the superdraft. But they just don't blood them much.

Ebert was bottom aged but considering Masten has OP and might not be right for season '08 Ebert may have to fill a midfield rotation role.

I rekon Rhys Plamer will be the best out of the draftees. He will instantly slot into Fremantle midfield as he is fast and strong

Brad Ebert went to West Coast in the draft buddy....

Selecting a rookie ruckman is going to be the toughest choice...none are taking my fancy at this stage.

Kreuzner wont be at the base rookie price, not sure if McEvoy will get much game time at the saints in his first year.

and the other ruckman in the draft dont excite me...not for their debut this year anyway.

It might be a case of waiting to see if a senior ruckman get a years long injury during the preseason and then taking a young ruck from that club..

All the rucks you guys have listed will take a chunk of the cap.

Seriously, how many rucks do you need that actually play?

Get two decent ruckman (eg, Simmo and Cox) for the starting 22.
Then another ruckman that is likely to play (Kruzer, Wood, Burger, Biglands)
The 4th ruck position doesnt really matter as long as you are confident that those other 3 are going to play. (Bailey)

The rucks might take a good chunk of the salary cap but there's a huge difference between the elite ruckmen and the others.

Cox top dollar but worth every cent
Fraser undervalued but probably the closest to Cox
Simmonds cheap but an element of risk
Kruezer probably won't score well but could play most games

Hopefully this is a "set and forget" ruck line up. If all goes to plan Simmo gets cashed in towards the end of the year for a profit and that's the only trade you need to make.

For my forward line I'm looking at:
Riewoldt, Jonathon Brown, Nathan G Brown, Embley/Lynch, Hall, Tredrea, possibly Didak, Dew or Hawkins depending on their preseason. I think rookies are hard to pick in the forward line and even if they play they don't score that well. I'll have 3 quality midfielders and the rest will be rookies. They'll probably play score well, increase in value quickly and then I'll upgrade through the midfield again.

Yeah i'll be looking at Hawkins to fill the void left by Nathan Ablett. Sean Rusling is also one to consider as far as forwards below $200K go.

that's a fair bit of your cap gone right there
jbrown and nriewoldt are very expensive
ngbrown will be slightly cheaper but he did play a fair bit of the year
lynch will be expensive after his great year this year
hall and tredrea will be down on price
hawkins is a fairly good pickup though

my forward line will be something like
pavlich, hall/tredrea, newton, rusling, tippett/hentschel, bradshaw/thompson, hawkins & couple of new players
