If WW3 was to happen, wouldn't pretty much all the developed nations (apart from the ones that hate America mentioned above) all ally up and just smack down north Korea etc

There is no evidence to support the final sentence. I agree with the first bit though, not "for the good of mankind" but more of a "mutual interest".

Unless China was to decide it was in their interests, it won't happen. As things stand in the event of any real incusrion, they would probably slap down Kim Jong Crazy (and all the pre-takeover talk that he was crazier than his old man seems to have been correct) before the US could scramble jets from Guam.
It might well be a case of third-generation syndrome, where the third in a family empire screws things up. Sometimes to the point of losing said empire.

Outside of Africa and the Middle East the rest of the world has being quite peaceful. Especially Europe which was basically permanently at war in the pass.

They don't like it enough to die for it though.

Russia would fight if you started taking shots at Belarus or Ukraine but not North Korea.

The Soviet Union never went to war with the USA in Korea or Vietnam.

Yeah, but that's never going to happen, is it? It's an inherent part of humanity that we fight and hate each other. The state of the world at this current moment is as peaceful as we've ever gotten. There'll always be war, but it's the least amount of war we've ever had.

The era of empire was probably the bloodiest in human history (in terms of spread - in actual numbers the Mongol crusades are numero uno IIRC) - Europe was now spreading its wars across the world, and the locals were caught in the middle.
