Isn't North Korea's economy a laughing stock due to trade restrictions, government red-tape etc? There's no way they have the resources to engage in a serious military offensive against any decent sized country. It's all propaganda.

Although I think it's inevitable that WWIII will occur eventually, but not until the supply of oil gets to critical levels.

The thing to remember is that a conflict between Nth Korea and the USA or Sth Korea, isn't WW3...but might be a catalyst for a WW3.

China and Russia decide it's in their best interests to get into a world war over North Korea.

The advent of nuclear weapons indicates there will never be another world war, it would all be over very quickly.

Also North Korea wouldn't need to launch a missile to hit Washington. A few briefcases into cities along the western coast wouldn't be difficult though, which is why USA isn't going to nuc them either.

Nth Korea is hell-bent on starting something. They want to try. They've been building their army and whipping themselves into a war-ready state of mind for decades. They may not be suicidal, but they are ambitious. Just like pre-WW2 Nazis, they're not building such an aggressive-minded war machine just for shits and giggles.

They're building it so countries like America don't think it would be nice and easy to commit a little regime change on the side.

They may not be suicidal, but they are ambitious. Just like pre-WW2 Nazis, they're not building such an aggressive-minded war machine just for shits and giggles.

Also, once things escalate, you'd see other nations taking the opportunity to attack nations they hate (like israel/iran, pakistan/india)
