Ok so while every other decent side is playing with get talls we will continue to use 1 ruck and have our other forward pinch hit so checkers can try and mark against 3 players. Melbourne just won with 2 rucks. Richmond had lynch and Riewoldt as 2 key targets but again, we will be fine with checkers and Cameron can play the second ruck/forward roll. West coast in 2018 looked good with Kennedy and darling as 2 stay at home forwards. Lycett and vardy as 2 ruckman then did a good job… but no, let’s have Grundy go 1 v 2 and get occasional help from Cameron as our forward/ruck.
How many years do we go back? In 2010 we have Dawes and Cloke. 2 key forwards and jolly/Leigh brown as the rucks.
Cox/Grundy as rucks, Cameron/Krueger as forwards with checkers finally able to play loose as the Third tall.
We’ve always played 2 rucks. It’s Grundy and either Cox or Cameron. We’ve then used 2 of Checkers, Kelly or JDG as the tall forwards. Using both Cameron and Cox in that dynamic didn’t work. That may be because we weren’t patient enough but more likely the foley of playing a ruck and 2x genuine ruck-forwards.
