Nic Lower?

I rate Lower very highly if he's played in his best position on the ball. One of our best inside mids.

I'd bring him straight back in the team for sure.

Bigfooty just needs a 'like' button sometimes I reckon.

What happens if you agree with Clay, but don't like him? I'm not saying that's where I'm at, I was just wondering.

Lower could easily come into the side for Crowley, will at least keep them both keen fighting it out for a spot. I see DeBoer as a level above both when it comes to impact on the game.

Could be crucial against teams like the Hawks, Eagles, Blues etc. We cant assume the no body is going to pick up an injury in the midfield the whole year. Mora spent too much time out and isn't at Lowers level yet anyway. Hope Lower gets a game soon.

Mundy, SNOS, Neale, Barlow - not sure if I see Lower pushing in early.

Our depth is not great, so he will undoubtedly get games - it all depends if he can slot in and fill a role.

I really rate Lower as an onball extractor and would have in the team from Saturday ahead of Pearce, Mayne at this stage. Winning clearances is key and we were I think a bit flattered against Geelong because of the inexperience of their rucks and the dominance of Sandi.

But that is the thing isn't it our growing depth.
SNOS, Griffen, Neale, Mundy, Morabito and Lower will be/are pushing for spots soon.
Roberton had a telling 26 disposals on the wing in the WAFL so has put his name up (I could see him possibly playing in place of Mayne) and there is also Pitt.

When is lower eligble - round 3?

Yes Lower can come back round 3 against the Lions.
He would be perfect to get a job on Rockliff or Black as they performed well against Melbourne and probably their most damaging players.

It's a really shame we are missing Lower for Sydney. He carved up this fixture last year and kicked that winning goal!

I actually dont mind Nick Lower.

We had a injuries every where last season and he had a good season.

This time last year he was rookie listed. Played 19 games and he played well in most of them. I saw him play well when we beat Port at AAMI last year.

If he plays as well as he did last year hes going to get a spot in our best 22.

I concur. He showed in the second half of last year that he could be a very good extractor, perhaps even elite. The only knock on him so far is consistency and perhaps pace (does anyone really know how quick he is?). We need those big bodies in the middle and Lower has great vision, great hands, stands up in tackles and loves a goal in the clinches. I think I've posted those words several times before but he's in my best 22 for sure.

With Barlow, Mundy and Morabito missing a lot of the pre-season Lower gives us options. They're going to struggle to run out games early in the season so if we can sub in Lower it keeps the side balanced.

IMO Lower is one of our best on ballers. If we could have Sandi rucking to Barlow (back in 2010 form and fitness) and Lower, feeding it out to running players like Mundy, Fyfe and Hill we would have the makings of a near elite midfield. I believe our best 22 would have Sandi Barlow Lower on ball, Fyfe and Hill on the wings with Mundy in the centre. If they were all operating at thier best i reckon we'd be looking at one of the best midfields in the comp.

With Lower playing no pre season games I'd imagine he would come back through the WAFL if only to prove to Lyon the kind of player he can be.

For me Lower is the pick of the also rans.

A class midfielders
Mundy
Hill
Fyfe
Barlow

B Class
Moribito - B+
De Boer
Crowley
Mzungu

C Class
Lower - C+
Pearce
JVB

Lower would be in this week if he could be picked but will struggle to get games when we have a full list to pick from

I really rate Lower as B+ and well above Pearce/Crowley/JVB.

He has a bit to work on but he does a lot of the hard stuff and is basically a battering ram at the contests. Tackles anything that moves and gives fantastic handballs in tight contested situations. He can kick freaky goals when you need them and feeds the Hill/Fyfe the ball so well. He is that player that can turn a contest purely for how he charges in and gets the ball.

I'd have Lower, De Boer and Crowley at a pretty similar level, Mzungu is a step up the ladder, Morabito is around the mark somewhere, Pearce and JVB are a step below.

I wonder how important this guy is going to be for our season?

Watching 'on the couch' the potatoes(Healy, mike and Roos) were talking about freo not really having that real tough "inside mid". I think lower fits that bill no worries at all, hopefully the improvement we've witnessed from the GU and TT we see in lower too.

Don't forget De Pig either. But he doesn't look like getting much of chance in the midfield so far this season, and even more so as an onballer.
