im a fan of Nick Maxwell...hopefully they stick with him cos he is a goer and always tries his ebst

he played 10 games heading into this season, and turns 22 in June...so for NAB Rising Star he fits the age criteria i think but im not sure if its 10 or less games or 9 or less games played heading into the season to make the criteria

....The winner must be under the age of 21 at January 1 that year, must not have played more than 10 games to the start of that season....

Doesn't fit under the criteria as he was 21 as of January 1, 2005.

Julian Rowe will get nominated later on this year, and have to contend with Kepler Bradley for the award. Jules will be a standout this season, could have our first Rising Star since Nathan Buckley in 1993, too bad he was a Brisbane Bear.

I can't believe Rogan didn't win it in 2000... We always get the wins taken away from us.
Daicos' goal of the year in 1992(?) against Geelong beaten by a very young Darryl White, etc.
Tarrant's Mark of the year beaten by the little sh-t Moorcroft, etc.

We do well, but get beaten, but get beaten fair. Josh Fraser not winning in 2000, he got a nomination but there was never a chance anyone could beat Paul Hasleby, who had a consistent debut season in the midfield, picking up 31 touches in his actual debut.

Darryl White's goal was the goal of the year, Daicos was just magical but White's goal was better IMO.

Gary Moorcroft's mark was mark of the year, probably mark of the century. Tarrant's was just beaten by brilliance.

Absolute gun of a player.

Another year or two in the gym and we've got our future James Clement.

In theory, his development would allow Lonie up to a wing, but that may not happen anymore.
good call, once the kid bulks up we are going to have one of the toughest players in the AFL, its been a while since the likes of pants , dennis banks and ned kelly but i reckon this kid has got the mongrel in him

Nick Maxwell = Gun
Rowe needs to improve his foot disposal and decision making but has heaps of potential.

Im cant beleive Maxwell was not in the starting 22 from day one, last season he really impressed me and unless he was under done thought he would be a walk up start. The game he played last year against Freo was awesome.

One thing I really like about maxwell is that he has balls, heart and just runs his arse off. He does the little things that count he goes into packs and isn't affraid to lead. I've seen him a few times at willie and for the pies. Really good young player, like I said what I'm most impressed with is that he is so small yet so courageous. good to see.

The query with Maxwell is that given he is already 21, how much will he improve. He has maybe 2 to 3 years to improve and then we'll know what his level is. I doubt he will ever be a star but he looks like he'll be a good player for us for a long time to come. Stars are obvious at 21.

Did Freo know how good Clemo was when they let him go? I doubt it.

Maxwell is very good, and I reckon he has plenty of improvement to come.

Clement didn't get real opportunities whereas Maxwell is getting them. In any case Freo are not the best example to use. They let McPhee go after Clement and before Clement, well, starting with McLeod, you could put a bloody good side together. Don't get me wrong, I think Maxwell looks the goods but he isn't going to be AA quality or anything like that IMO. As I said, you should see it at 21. There will always be late bloomers though.

Maxwell and Rowe are the future of the club. I think it was a strange decision not to give the rising star nomination this round to Rowe. I think we finally have some good yound blood coming through along with C2, C3 and anyone ive missed.

The rising star nomination's usually are awarded after a couple of consistent/stand out weeks, not on the basis of one stand out game.

If Rowe has a blinder this week he will be considered for sure
