I thought NSW Scholarship players get automatically added to the rookie list when they become draftable age. So what's the situation with Nick Perry? I see his name appears on the ALF web site as a tall defender in the NAB AFL draft. So does that mean that any AFL club can draft him and that Collingwood passed up on him for our rookie list? If that is the case I can't see what harm it would have done by taking him on as a rookie.

I may be wrong here, but I think if we nominate that we are going to take him with our last pick in the rookie draft, then no one else can touch him.

In that case, he is technically still in the draft pool.

I don't know for sure that we have claimed him yet though, might have to wait for draft night.

Nothing 'automatic' about it.

Both the Player and the Club have to agree to be either rookied or senior listed.

Either can say No

Hey guys, sorry to intrude.

We have added one (of our three eligible NSW Scholarship kids to our list) already, the other two at a guess will nominate for the draft should we not decide to add them in the next 48 hours.

If they are overlooked in the National Draft, do the original AFL club have 'first dibs' on that player? or do they have to be selected by that club in the rookie draft as a rookie selection, as NSW Scholarship holders are placed on an outside list (correct me if I am wrong here).

Just on Perry, I can understand why you would not add him to your list, as you already have a plethora of tall defender's already their.

Would be a fair way behind Tarrant, N.Brown, Goldsack, Maxwell, Reid, O'Brien, Keefe and another NSW kid (I am assuming) Scott Reed.

It's a shame, but no we won't be picking up Perry.

Not 100% sure what the Witts situation is.

Clubs can rookie list NSW scholarship players already but if the player decides to take his chance in the ND then the club doesn't get that option. They can still draft or rookie list the player but that'd unlikely.
