Na got a PS3 instead – well got a blue ray player and they chuckled the games consol in for free

I don't have one yet, a few mates do and I am hooked on Mario Kart, so much so I got my old Nintendo 64 out just to keep playing it at home :)

yeah with an old N64 and a PS2 - I've resisted upgrading given the prices...and that I don't have as much time as I used to to play.

I've decided to take the plunge but I'm going to have to make a decision between the Wii, XBOX, and PS3.

We have had the Wii for over a year now and it's fantastic! Granted I have a 7 year old, but I get as much out of it as he does I think. The best thing about it is it's interactive nature. No more 7 year old sitting on the couch twiddling his thumbs! Games include: Wii sports (most played), Wii play, Ratatouille, Pirates of the Caribbean, Heat Seeker, Silver Surfer, Mario Galaxy, Crash Bandicoot, and most recently Wii Fit (for me). Pirates is the toughest of the games we have, mainly because the sword fighting is so physical my arm and shoulder end up hurting for days after! Mario Galaxy and Crash Bandicoot are as good as the old nintendo versions but have the added interactive element.

Wii Fit is fantastic too... there is only really one limitation I can see - and that is that you can't plan your own fitness programme and extend the time of the activities... but I think that they will do that for the next version. Otherwise it is a terrific thing to use. Teaches you a lot about your posture and balance.... has some great games/activities from 4 different areas - Yoga, Muscle strengthening, Aerobics and Balance.

Probably doesn't have that in-depth strategy thing the other consoles have, but to me it is the future of game playing... virtual reality is the way to go!

I love the Wii. Got it at launch and have been slowly adding to my game collection in that time. Mind you, apart from Sport and Play every other game I have is part of the Mario franchise.

I've got: Sport, Play, Wario Ware, Mario Party 8, Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Strikers Charged, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros...I think that's about it. There might be one or two more. I played Wii Fit at a mates house and in the first set of testing my Wii Fit age was 20 - turns out I have a really good centre of gravity. Now it feels like I have nowhere to go with that game. ;) I'll probably end up getting it at some point though because the exercises are fun and apparently good for you!

You know what saddens me? Everyone loves the Wii now but I bet when Nintendo poured its heart and soul into the absolutely brilliant Gamecube, few to none of these same people took notice of it.

Seriously, the biggest perk about the Wii is that you can play the incredible line up of Gamecube titles. It's up there in with the Dreamcast in terms of having a massive selection of great games for such limited commercial success (although it did generate more profit for Nintendo than the PS2 or Xbox did for their respective companies).

Tales of Symphonia
Super Mario Sunshine (which many would enjoy more than Galaxy)
Eternal Darkness
Metroid Prime 1 & 2
Resident Evil REmake
Resident Evil 0
Resident Evil 4
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Zelda: Wind Waker (brilliant)
Pikmin 1 & 2
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance
Paper Mario 2
Luigi's Mansion (massively underrated)
Sonic Adventure 1 & 2
Skies of Arcadia Legends
Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2 (way better than the PS2/Xbox compilation due to far superior controls)
Chibi-Robo
Star Fox Assault
F-Zero GX
Star Wars Rogue Leader
Star Wars Rebel Strike
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Donkey Konga
Baiten Kaitos 1 & 2
Battalion Wars
Star Fox Adventures
Wave Race Blue Storm
Killer 7 (superior version)
Viewtiful Joe 1-3 (superior versions)
Product No 3
Odama
Ikaruga

Now go forth, do the right thing. Start your Gamecube collection.

In terms of gameplay - how does Galaxy compare with the old Super Mario World from the Nintendo64 days?

'old super mario world from Nintendo64 days' wow, I feel like a Grandpa....

I think you mean Mario 64, Super Mario World is on the SNES....

And Mario Galaxy has been rated as the 2nd best game ever (after Ocarina of Time) to my knowledge.

Galaxy is a great game no doubt. I feel it was a slight step back in some ways from Sunshine though; that game's worlds felt more like they were living and breathing.

Galaxy is awesome, a perfect platformer. But you'll never get that feeling when you first played sper mario 64 (omg 3d this is amazing!), and hence it was somewhat of a disappointment for me. I would be in the minority however, it is truly one of the best games out atm

Wii fit would have to be the most abused game in history. I was ready to throw it out the window when it gave me my BMI. Came within inches.

Also purchased Super Smash today. Goes with Wii Sports, Mariokart, Fifa 08 and Bully.

Once i finally get around to connecting it to the net ill post codes etc. (pain in the ass network connections)

:D Made me laugh..... but seriously, you'd have to know already whether your BMI was good/bad/indifferent? I don't think many would be that surprised over-all.

I forgot we had ice-age 2 (very entertaining) and world series poker.
