Gaspar, Judd and Sampi named as emergencies to an unchanged 22.

But if there emergencies, dont they have to travel with the team resulting in Judd not getting a game this weekend?

They usually only all travel if there's serious doubts over some of the players listed don't they? (Although for the experience it might be a good idea for the three to go? )

Injuries? What are they? We are having a better time of injuries of late. Which means we can obviousley field a better team! It's been a long time since we've seen an unchanged team that was so strong! Hopefully we'll get a chance to do better now!

Merenda apparently failed a fitness test at 7 PM last night and won't be travelling. Opens the door for Sampi and Judd and poor old Gas isn't even in the running. Personally I'd give the nod to Judd and play Sampi at Souths this weekend alongside Gas.

Sorry for going off topic but why isn't Gaspar playing? In my opinion he is in our best 22 (on the bench) and we are short on tall defenders. He's in his 3rd season now and only played 6 games (yes, things have gone against him) but when he did play he was very serviceable off the bench as a tall defender who ran forward and kicked goals. I would hope that he plays at least 15 games this year as he really needs the AFL experience and we will really need him in a couple of years time when McIntosh and Jakovich have either retired, or are well past their best.

Our tall forward options are covered in McDougall and Hansen but what about tall defenders (I mean really tall, someone who can tackles Ottens and the like head on). Glass is tall yes, but not really tall (195+ cm) and I doubt very much that Carroll (who isn't tall either) will be played much more. Lynch (on the rookie list) is looking quite good at FB at WP but then again, he isn't the tallest either. So whilst we are covered for short defenders (Read & Humm), medium sized defenders (Collica & possibly Williams) and medium tall defenders (Glass & possibly Hunter, Carroll & Lynch) we don't really have the tall defenders that other sides have.

Sorry for this off topic rant but it had to be said sometime and since I'm a bit peeved that Gas isn't playing so I thought it may as well be now.

Gaspar has had many injury problems in his short career, I'm guessing Woosha is giving him time to recover from his last one.

Also, I think Sampi will play this week. I'm guessing he was named as an emergency in case Merenda isn't fit for the match, and according to Visro he failed the fitness test. I'm hoping both Judd and Sampi are given a game, but I doubt Woosha will allow 2 players to make their debuts in the same game. Nevertheless, i am still hopeful both will play.

Good rant.

IMO Gaspar will play a lot, he's just being nursed through injuries. Definitely a long term first team regular prospect.

Don't agree we're covered on small defenders. With Phil Read's injury we're down to Taylor & Humm, with maybe a bit of Wirrapunda, Collica and (big pause) Carroll.

Id have to agree there, although most people would expect Judd to come in, Sampi is more in the mould of player that Merenda is and it wouldnt surprise me to see Woosha throw him in for Choco.

Just heard on the news that Merenda isn't playing, so either Judd or Sampi are going to make thier AFL debut. I think Sampi would be the logical replacement for Merenda although I would like to see Judd given a run aswell.

I hope Judd plays, I like to see him in such an important game and to see what type of impact he will have....

I think Sampi will get the run considering we are losing a small forward in Merenda. Although Judd did kick 4 last week in the WAFL? Its lineball but if i had to choose I would bring in Judd. He just looked so impressive in the Wizard Cup..

if we have to make a change i'd probably have to go Judd, although Sampi is a small forward i think Judd is better suited to AFL level at the moment

I think Judd should play too but Sampi should be told that he's not far off a senior debut! I kno what its like to miss out on senior selection when u've just started...Sampi will need some encouragement to keep training as he might be thinking to himself "Im never going to play AFL footy"

Tricky one. I don't really know enough about the Pies to know whether we need another goalsneak (Sampi - who looks brilliant in flashes at the next level down) or whether an extra running midfielder (Judd) would be more useful. I'd lean towards Judd, but I think it'll be tactical.

I heard that it depended on the weather (if it was wet Sampi was giong to get the nod).

I'd say that Sampi would be getting a run next week after Fido is suspended.

Unfortunantly i have to agree with you there....

Oh well, with Fido out Sampi has his chance to impress the coaching staff
