No place for the 19th Man ???

c'mon Macca we know that.

Its just more fun to imagine it was written by a Port Fan :D

Fair point. :D

I mean I like to believe it was written by one of the 20,000 nanas in your crowd who now cant concentrate on their knitting due to the 'uncouth booing' around them ;)

So Port supporters get criticised for being abusive, feral etc. yet people are concluding that this was written by a port supporter? Right-o. Nice one!

Id say it was written by someone whos been to one game of football in their life. Supporters have been booing, jeering, yelling crap out, and in the past throwing streamers at players lining up for goal for decades. Its nothing new.

I think its just a general assumption, just because it tends to be port supporters who come out and dish this kind of stuff out at the Crows(just look at the "comments" pages on AdelaideNow articles for more proof). If it were an "unknown" having a go at the Power, you guys'd be blaming it on a Crows supporter.

I'll have you know my Nan thinks i look quite fetching in what she knits at crows games! :p

A little on the tight side, but it's the thought that counts.

It actually sounded like it was coming from an Adelaide supporter...I don't think a Port supporter would say that, because the whole thing came from that Port get half the crowd we get, yet they were louder than us.
But what's next? It's unsportsmanlike to not cheer when the other team gets a goal?
That person needs to go back and watch the Geelong vs Hawthorn game - when Jimmy Bartel had that kick after the siren to win the Cats the game, the Hawks supporters were going off their brain to try & distract him.

If you dont like it dont goto the footy you whimp......................your a whimp WILSON.............WHHHHHHHHIIIIIMMMMPPP......... WWWHHHHIIIMMMPPPP

One of the stupidest things I've ever read. So we should've been clapping when Anthony kicked that goal under pressure because of his skill. Oh yes congrats John or Jack or whatever your stupid name is, that took skill.

So when opposition teams come into AAMI we should encourage and support them instead of trying to make it a hostile environment? Shame on you Neil Craig for promoting the concept of the 19th man, shame on your. And then the author goes on about the lesson it sends to the youngsters, amazing. What an amazing piece. :thumbsu:

Comedy Gold:D:thumbsu:

Cricket isn't any better, I wonder whether this person knew that along with being World Champion Cricketers, our Australian Cricket Team are world champion sledgers.

Try being an Aussie cricketer playing in an Ashes Test in England!
Even worse, try being an Aussie supporter at the same ground!
Haven't been to AAMI to see the 19th in action but can't imagine it being any worse than this.

If anything, we should be cheering the fact that his forehead manages to defy gravity.

Maybe Truck wasn't trying to hold John/Jack/Forehead back from the contest? Perhaps he was just trying to help prop him up, afraid that if he lost balance and hit the ground, the enormous forehead would crush half of the MCG - killing thousands.

For someone who has stopped reading the Advertiser:

There is a place for the 19th Man it gets the crowd involved and excited.

BUT under NO circumstances do I ever accept hooliganism at the ground.

I do not ever want to go down the path of soccer ( l love the game , but it is pathetic what we see here in Australian Soccer).

I think a Power supporter should be able to sit with us Crows supporters. Abuse his club and the players lol thats fine and vice versa BUT never make it personal at the end of the game you should be able to have a drink with an opposition supporter, bar Collingwood lol.

Hooliganism is for Australian Soccer.

Sadly I love the game, but it is a joke in this country.

Aussie Rules rules !!!!!:thumbsu:

I've only ever been to three crows games since i live 3 hours from Adelaide, but the games were a lot more enjoyable before the supporters started carrying on like they do with the 19th man. Booing at every umpiring decision against us, right or wrong, etc. Pretty bad sports i think.

You are mixing up two unconnected things.

"Booing at every umpiring decision against us" is, along with screaming "BAAAALLLL!!!" a common factor to most clubs' supporters and neither is part of the "19th Man" promotion.

You might want to argue about whether the Adelaide crowd is "worse" than others in these areas (personally I do get a bit tired of the umpire abuse sometimes) BUT:
Those things have been happening since day 1, they have not just started with the 19th man promotion.

The "19th Man" is about (a) supporting the team and (b) the whole "distract the player kicking for goal" thing. I don't know if it's had much effect on (a) but it has certainly seen an improvement in our performance on (b) :)

Either way i agree with the part about it being unsportsmanlike.

I have been to 3 home games, And I LOVE the 19th man concept! It gets you into the game more. I dont think its bad though, I was in Melbourne for the Adelaide/Collingwood Semi, Collingwood dont have a 19th man but most of their supporters where boo'ing. Who cares hey?

I cant wait to go to some home games and BOOOO! Go Crows!

So, how do you think the crowd should behave when an opposition player is lining up for goal?

PS Have you ever been to, or watched, an SANFL (or VFL for that matter) game from the pre-Crows days?

No, i'm 15 lol. But i have played local footy since i was 6, and i have learned about good sportsmanship. I just think it's a bit unsportsmanlike.

As chopper Read would say "Harden the f..k up".

When you stand the man on the mark who's shooting for goal YOU don't make noises and try and put him off??

You wouldn't last 2 minutes in my side if you didn't.

Beside we're not talking about watching U/16's. We're talking about football played at the highest level where the stakes are high. We supporters actually care who wins or not.

Whoever wrote that crock of shit deserve a good kick up the arse for being so pathetic.
