I remember when they did their last show for the year once and it came out that the plumper blonde female comedian wasn't coming back, it was very awkward because it was obviously a programming decision, or a Rove decision, but they were trying to make out like she was willingly moving on to new things.

He liked to do that Rove, his sidekicks had a run of 1 or 2 years then he'd turf them out to keep the show fresh.

Corinne Grant ?
I remember reading after she left the show that the reason given was that it was a "scheduling conflict" as she recorded the ABC show The Glass House at the same time.Funny how other people who popped up on TGH were able to appear on Rove the same week.

Lets face it - Rove took over when Hey Hey was cancelled. That was the place celebrities went to be interviewed when they visited Australia and bands performed on the show. Rove was the only realistic show for 10 years and the interviews were cringeworthy and occasiionally they got a band to perform right at the end of the show.

When celebrities visit, there should be a variety show they can go on (gee, the only option right now is breakfast TV :thumbsd:). The US has the likes of Leno, Conan, Letterman etc. The UK had Parky and other shows, we have nothing. Australian TV needs something decent!

And can I just ask? Was Rove ever funny? I never laughed at his jokes, his audience were told to laugh and the silence at events like the Arias said it all.

As for the future, I can see Hamish and Andy getting a show (if they want it). Thier specials rated pretty well.

Dunno if Rove was ever funny.. but I must say I did enjoy the show in the early days. Having said that tho, I havent watched it for at least a few years and I will not miss it.

My vote goes to Tony Martin. (or hey lets just have a "Late Show" reunion) Saw him on the 7pm Project. What a gun. :thumbsu:

Lol @ the woman who screamed at NO in the audience when Rove announced this would be his last show. :D

Hahahahaha. Hey you've just admitted you watched the show. I didnt see that cause I wasnt watching. (Unless it was on a replay on the news or something..)

I used to like his show, however when he started relying on overseas talk shows for ideas and executing his local version poorly (re: Conan O'Brien's material) that was the turning point and when the hatred for the show began. Several format changes later, i'm glad that it is finally finished!

silence at arias? *presses TELL ME MORE button*

ive only seem his jokes die at a grand final brekky a few years ago. had to turn away to avoid killing myself

was pete hellier crying at shows end? looks like he doesnt have any form of media to work on now?

easy to forget the extent to which rove's longevity really depended on the ch 10 reality show boom early in the '00s. absent the weekly prospect of an interview with the latest BB or idol evictee (when those shows were actually popular), i doubt his show would've lasted more than a couple of years. his ratings were never good but it's noteworthy how much they plummeted once idol/BB fell out of favour with the tweens

You know, I haven't thought about that. Good call.

can't really believe all the hating on rove

he isn't that bad
Yes he is that bad, he seems to be a pretty nice bloke and all but he is just not funny in the slightest

Sweet, now all that has to happen is for the 7PM project to be axed, as well as 20-1, the morning show, today tonight, a current affair.................
list goes on but at least Rove being gone is a start. His humour is for 12 year olds, and it seems it has gotten progressicely worse over the years.

I always love this line of thinking. So what, we aren't allowed to criticise or call a shit show, shit, until we have managed to take part in a greater achievement?

I hope you are never critical of an AFL player, I don't see you out there playing at the same level of professional sport they are, so who are you to judge? Don't think George Bush was successful as president, well lets see your amazing skills at running a country like the United States.

Rove sucked arse for ten years and the fact the show ran that long is only testament to how ****ing stupid the Australian public is.

This.

I love how fanboys/girls always come back with that if their idol is critised, as if only the elite can comment negatively or something. :thumbsd:

I can't decide which is worse, Rove or the 7PM project. Probably Rove because it's longer.

At least it isn't on 5 days a week during prime time.
