it's being reported in Spain that Ricky Rubio's legal team in Spain have submitted a buyout offer to DKV Joventut of US$3 million. It further speculates that if accepted, Rubio will sign with the Wolves.

It has also come to light that prior to the draft a similar offer of US$4 million was rejected by Joventut.

And Henry Abbott on ESPN has a ham-fisted run at David Kahn. Kahn plays a straight bat.

David Kahn has been spending his time in Vegas talking to Dan Fegan, Rubio's European agent and Michael Silver who is a deputy commissioner of the NBA.

According to ESPN, it all comes down to the buyout. If it can be resolved, he'll report to Minneapolis.

Hypothetically, lets say Rubio does come to the NBA this season, and the Timberwolves keep Flynn. What's wrong with just having them on the court at different times, and just running with whoever shows the most at the time? I doubt they'd be handing the reigns over to Rubio from the word go. He's only 18. I know he's had international experience running the Spanish team, but he can't play all 48 minutes. Having another rookie there to back him up/play some minutes would take the pressure off, and give the Timberwolves a chance to see what both of them have to offer.

Also, I haven't read one word anywhere on how Sebastian Telfair fits into all this. He's still a fairly young PG too. Have they just given up on him and are willing to cut him loose?

Well thats the thing, Telfair would have made a great back-up to either Rubio or Flynn. I still dont understand what the Wolves were thinking - they drafted two guys who are pure PG's. The should have gone for Rubio + Curry.

Agreeed. Couldn't believe it when I first read it. Then I saw Curry next pick.

Indeed. Would you write to Bill Simmons for me?

They can. And they will. I think he'll get 30mpg while he can handle it, with most of that at PG. They aren't going to all this trouble to sit him on the bench behind Telfair.

Yes.

Bassy is 24. He has a player option for next season, but it isn't huge (2.6m). He has worked his arse off since he got to Minnesota. He understood what Gerald Green didn't; this is the last stop (and yes I know Green is still in the league, but what a waste).

With all the good will in the world, Bassy is not a starting PG in the NBA. He controls the pace well and distributes beautfully. But he is an appalling shooter and a defensively challenged.

Disagree. Curry doesn't get you that much more other than shooting and he is going to have the same trouble defending that Flynn will. In fact Curry may have more. The only argument in favour of Curry at 6 is that you could have moved him on draft night. I would have taken a reach for Clark, Williams or DeRozan.

You would have taken T-Will at 6? That is a pretty big reach. Not a fan of Earl Clark either? I rate him and Williams about the same. Best option would have been if Sacramento had taken Rubio, then you could have had Flynn and Evans, a perfect combo.

Regardless, it will be very interesting to see how this pans out. I cant work out what they are planning to do with the two of them.

You could throw a blanket over about 10 of them really. My point was you can afford to reach for a different position with Rubio up your sleeve. And the Wolves are dreadfully thin at 2 and 3.
