Well that was a fizzer of a week.

IMO the big victors were Collingwood who now have 2 top 10 picks, The Bullies for getting McDougall and Aker for very little and Sydney who gained Spider Everitt for pick 33.

Big winner = richmond. Get polak for virtually nothing. Their attitude ****es me off though.

Winner was Fremantle. They traded two players who can't make the team, and got Tarrant in return. A forward line of Pavlich, Tarrant and Farmer is dynamite.

I am very, very disappointed with Adelaide. All week trying to offload Skipworth and even Jericho, only to walk away with no activity and no extra draft picks. What a joke, why do we even send our “recruitment team” over to Melbourne, what a waste of time and money. We're getting worse every year. :thumbsd:

I like what Fremantle have done. Putting Tarrant alongside Pavlich makes them potent.

Even the best negotiators in the world would have trouble getting anything for Skipworth and Jericho. What would you give for them if you were managing another team?

Is it worth getting angry, we can't control what the club does.

once again - whats the point of draft picks when you get rid of players who may or may not be replaced in the draft -

on the flip side why would clubs just off load draft picks for our players ??

Come on Drummond get off of it! They lost their first rounder, Polak and medhurst (meh). Tarrant is very similar to Murphy for them. That deal has their 2001 trade written all over it. Richmond get a potentially quality CHB for what 5 spots in the draft!?! That wins.

If you can't find a trade that results in a win, why trade at all? I am perpelexed by the attitude of so many on here that want trades just so they can say we were active.

What exactly did you expect if all we were willing to give up was Skipworth or Jericho:rolleyes:

For mine it's not the trading for a win.

We all know Skipworth is going to play a nothing part on our list and will most likely be delisted. If we were able (which by all accounts we were) to get ANY compensation for him, surely that's better than nothing. I mean FFS I would've accepted the last pick in the draft at 1:29 rather than delist him for absolutely nothing. Same RE: Jericho.

What a waste of the clubs money.

IIRC, they had there first 3 rounds downgraded. Pretty steep for Polak.

Think about what you've just written. You say he (or they incl. Jericho) are nothing players who will most likely get delisted. Then in the next line you expect some other club to offer something for them?

I don't expect it. But when other clubs seek you out and enquire about offering you SOMETHING for them - shouldn't you take it.

North Melbourne, Collingwood and Melbourne all SUPPOSEDLY enquired about Skipworth and offering up 3rd/4th/5th round picks to acquire his services. Surely you'd agree that's better than nothing?

NO

You have to use the picks you trade for, so hypothetically we may of been offered 4th rounders for Jerich or Skipworth which we would then be forced to use meaning we'd have to delist more players

Maybe a third round. But if you read my above comment yes it is much worse then nothing!

My understanding was pick8 = pick 13 + polak was the deal. If this was it, thats a win. Polak is what only 22 and obviously has some talent. Put him a CHB and see what he can do. Can't lose.

Or you can on trade them ;)

Our third and an On-traded Fourth for a higher standing, etc.

To whom, for what? You and bus24 seem to have very unrealistic trade week expectations.

If a 3rd or 4th round pick was offered then yes, but that's pretty optimistic to think that would have been offered. Especially when they could get them (or other players of similar level) in the PSD. The Kangaroos are the only team that were reported to be seriously interested in Skipworth. And they have pick 3 in the PSD. In all liklihood they were waiting to see which players might go into the PSD first. Then when not many did they probably realised that's where they could get him, if they even want him that much.

It wouldn't surprise me if we kept Skippy either. It seems the club rates him higher than most on here, who seem to think the last pick in the draft is better than having Skipworth which is not a fair assessment of his value in my opinion.

I have very unrealistic trade expectations because I expect our club to try and offload junk and move up the order in the draft standings where possible?

West Coast just traded a 26 year old smack addict with two bung knees for an upgraded pick in the draft and my expectations are unrealistic
