Wouldn’t have thought McGovern is enjoying life, surely not a bad option for one or two years at a team contending.

Signed a one year extension for next year. Reckon he plays it then retires at 34 years old

I hold a slim hope that AFL writers will one day learn to write

Headline “Bont’s importance to the Dogs cannot be understated”

OVERSTATED you illiterate morons. It can’t be OVERSTATED - no matter how much you write about how good he is, you’re still not over-stating his value!

And calling them illiterate morons is an UNDERSTATEMENT

Why is the AFL so hyper-focused on concussion lawsuits that it’s suspending players for accidental head injuries from basic tackles, while leagues like the NRL and NFL haven’t radically changed their rules despite facing similar legal pressures?

The AFL seems to be bending over backwards to show it’s “doing something about head injuries” even when an incident clearly wasn’t intentional. Players are getting suspended for split-second decisions in a contact sport - it’s not like they’re swinging punches. Meanwhile, the NRL is played largely the same, and the NFL, with its billion-dollar concussion settlements, has tweaked protocols but not the core rules of the game. Are those leagues just more confident in their legal defenses? Or are the AFL's finances not as good as everyone thinks that a lawsuit would bankrupt them?

The AFL’s overcorrection needs to be clarified beyond "Oh it's because of potential lawsuits". It’s starting to look less like a contact sport and more like a legal liability management exercise.

Red is the same as Gold Coast and white looks too much like Wimbledon

Apparently they used to wear black shorts sometimes in the South Melbourne days
Way back all footy teams at every level wore black shorts playing at home and white away.
Coloured shorts came into the game when color telly was introduced. The Swans were the 1st club to wear them.

I’m not sure why the AFL is so concerned with the legality. It is not as if a player is aware they may get concussed and at a later time in life suffer CTE etc.

You play AFL, you get well paid, you understand the risks of playing the game. Some injuries are just unexpected, now it is a totally different matter if someone is going the biff.

And I think you may be on the money with regard to AFL fearful of a lawsuit which could bankrupt them. They probably aren’t covered by insurance for concussion related incidents and are self-insuring.

Not sure what Curtis is supposed to do here

Hope he gets off

Edit: this post was a repost of the the vision (from the AFL) announcing his 3 week ban. Seems to have been deleted or had restriction on sharing it

Also just discovered hidden posts - some pretty funny posts from angry North fans

Let Sinn run away and turn it over.
Remember watching Judd chasing down a player at Subiaco when he was at WC in a similar scenario

Judd did a really clever maneuver by grabbing the blokes far arm and pulling it back behind him. Virtually flicking the bloke over without the initial tackle and landing/jumping on the blokes back

Of course the umpire shit himself and gave awarded a free against for a perfectly legal and near perfect execution of a tackle (probably because he thought it looked bad)

Might as well celebrate Liverpool winning the title, at this stage, I really dont know when the Crows next flag will come.

Liverpool waited 35 years to party as Premier League champs, and they earned it.

When manager Jurgen Klopp and his players clinched the club's 19th title triumph in 2020, they ended what felt like a lifetime of hurt and marked Liverpool as a force on the rise. But the coronavirus pandemic ensured there could be no lavish celebrations, and the trophy was lifted in an empty stadium, on an empty Kop.

On Sunday, Anfield was -- at the request of captain Virgil van Dijk -- a sea of brilliant red, with the pre- and postmatch scenes sure to live long in the memory of the 60,000 supporters who were there. The party they had waited so long for had arrived. (It's a triumph that will sting, too, for onlookers at Old Trafford, with Liverpool having now drawn level with Manchester United at 20 league titles.)

Drugs Are Bad Mackay?

Three weeks is almost too lenient for the Liverpool post.

That said, better them than Arsenal.
