Do you know why I disliked your post? It's because you come on after wins and act like an obnoxious little fanboi. The poster you were belittling had gone to the effort of providing his thoughts in a comprehensive post, and you use words like "moronic" to counter it.

Did it occur to you that the game may not have been close if Ranks and co didn't get torched in the midfield? Sure, his class up forward in the last was elite, but he struggled (again) defensively all night with a top class midfield opponent.

It's hardly moronic to point that out. One might say it's simple-minded (ie moronic) to have such a one dimensional view as yours.
Jeff and Bicks seem to have morphed into the same person.

Nicks: "We probably dodged a few bullets... but when we had our chances, we took them."

Probably his most accurate, succinct appraisal of a game ever. Usually speaks in lengthy gibberish

The somewhat more accurate version would be to say that we didn't win that game, Port lost it.

We tried to lose it... but Port weren't good enough to win.

Actually, that needs re-phrasing too. The coaching staff tried to lose the game, but Port weren't good enough to win. The players, with the possible exception of Laird, were actually trying to win - contrary to the intent of the coaches' instructions.

Maybe "T-bicep" means "think of the draft pick we're losing if we win!"

The Crows walk off having somehow won, to the glares of Ogilvie and Reid.

At the end of each season, each club should release an explainer for the signs of that year.

I mean, 1 player changes teams and cat is out of the bag anyway.

Just on this, I've heard a bunch of commentary around how it was a "fantastic" game, or a "real showcase" of footy. Obviously, it was close and still alive as a contest until the very end, which helps. And there were a couple of big moments, such as Rankine's goal or Keane's mark. But my impression on the night was that it was a pretty poor contest overall. Is that just me being a grumpy supporter and wanting a better showing?
I felt similar.
The standout for me was Thilthorpe's strong bodywork and sticky hands; he is still improving too.
Possible AA? Brownlow in a couple years if he stays fit? I dunno how good he's going to be, just that he's going to be veryVERY good.
The game itself wasn't 'fantastic' or a 'real showcase', imo.
Too many errors by both sides.

I'll take the win --- who wouldn't? --- but I wasn't happy with the last 15 minutes and Nicks' go-slow shutdown.
After we kicked ahead, especially after those two Rankine goals, it looked like the boys were happy, charged,

we had energy/adrenalin and best of all, momentum. Why not ride that wave to a 6 or 7 goal win??
Telling them to slow down, protect the lead, chip-chip etc and nearly get done was wasteful and anti-climactic.
I felt flat after the game; still feel pissed off that PA nearly stole the win.

I noticed in the commentary they said we had something like only 6x interchanges left with 10 min to go.

I don't agree with it, but I can't help thinking that may have been a possible reason we tried to shut up shop early. I was also pissed off with how the game panned out, but thinking back to the game against the Roos, I was looking over to the benches in the last quarter after seeing how many times we had made our changes up to then and thinking, how many do we have left? It can't be that many? (and it wasn't, which was why Fog was basically left out there to run himself into the ground).

I'm not sure if it's a deliberate gamble that we are taking? It almost (should have) cost us the game, even after that massive surge after Berry came on, and that burst for what ended up (luckily) being the winning lead.

Pretty sure we had more interchanges left than port though.

Interesting.
It comes across to me like they cannot manage the Interchanges system well.
I'm not surprised.

So remember when posters were criticising Nicks for going defensive when we had a 4 goal lead with 10 mins to go, mentioning we were up 4 goals against a shit team and we almost blew it.

“Yes but we could have been overrun if we attacked, sound justifiable tactics”

Now that Port are 15th, anyone still think it was ok to go defensive against these muppets?

Just shows how ****ing clueless Nicks and some of our clappers are.
