Round 22 when you have a bulletproof profile is the absolute worst time to try something different. You are committed to the path you are on and staying as hot as possible. Trying something different is for when your profile is flagging.

We do not have anyone on our list capable of being a mid-sized tall that we want to be using in the role (Brayden Cook is probably the best option and he should have been delisted a year ago; Dawson and Curtin are better off elsewhere), and going small is a dumb idea as all it means is Thilthorpe (one of our main match winners) is going to be double-teamed. That's also ignores the facr that our small forward depth also sucks. The next man in is Lachie Murphy and Pedlar has barely fired a shot outside of last week.

There are no lessons from the West Coast game, outside of we have enough match winners to escape an ambush. Beyond that, we played that one like we didn't want to be there which means there is nothing that can be said about structure.
We don't have a bulletproof profile.
We didn't stay as hot as possible.
TT was double and triple teamed.
There are lessons from every game.
We wouldn't escape against any other team.

Half the problem with Nicks in the past is he doesn't make changes. If our structure isn't holding up in a Final, which is very possible, do you suggest we just stick with it?

Try something different, you never know what gem you uncover.

Taylor has so much potential .....has another level of fitness to reach ....hopefully this year is the stimulus to put the effort in

We won the match because of Rankine to the midfield ......interesting that FREO (Bolton), MELB (Pickett), GWS (Bedford) and HAW (Watson) are swinging thes quick players into the midfield, when their sides are under pressure

It answers where Rankine is most valuable

What did BRIS & COLL change on the weekend ?

Anyone notice the 1 handed pickup at a center bounce by Curtin, didn’t put his hand under it to scoop it, just put his hand on top like a claw machine.
Got tackled almost immediately but that’s Kouta like.
Claw machine claws don’t grab properly

They pretend to, then just let the toy slip out like

Also having previously been Perth based for 20+ years I can confirm that Gossage is an annoying flog
Still fair to call a guy out for calling you a pedophile.
I thought he was soundly beaten by a bashed up Flynn.
Ive been critical of ROB in the past but his past two months have been outstanding. I didnt see that yesterday and I thought he was pretty poor. Just my opinion.
Hadn’t Flynn just come off a rest the previous week. I think they went against Gawn with just Bailey Williams

Suggests some planning for our game - couple of big retirements. I think the AFL community underestimated how revved up WCE were for that game

No genuine smother attempt, elects to bump then shoulders him in the head

I made mention in the gameday thread that he missed the smother completely. From the TV vision at the time he looked awkward and just mistimed it.

But from the other angle he wasn't even trying to smother and just went the bump.

Nice attempt at a smother Laird - you missed the ball completely

That’s not a bump, surely you can’t be serious?

He made no genuine attempt to go for the ball at all. What do you think he was doing?

The most generous interpretation I could give is he ran straight into him and got him high. Not sure that makes any difference at the tribunal

Yeah. He looked directly at Cripps, lined him up, and ran straight into him. It's obvious from the side-on angle, where he was miles away from the ball.

When a player goes for a smother they try and aim for the legs, but Laird clearly aimed for the body. I think he tried to disguise it as a smother by sort of sticking his arms into him

Laird should have ran at him and stuck a finger up his date, would have had no case to answer.

It's a damn shame he had a quiet game because it would have been good for the weekly Curtin montage.
