I reckon teams like Port at this stage perform better when you drop the stars that have checked out, and instead play guys who are playing for their contract or career

Port have been forced into it by injury but often you can get an uptick in effort

This is why resting players shouldn’t be a concern. You know the guys coming in will give massive effort. Just make sure they’re not perennial failures like Murphy, or over the hill like Smith.
