Going full Purple here

IF the Crows didn’t regret not getting Petracca in the offseason,

THEN they certainly do now

Let’s cool our Gold Coast jets for a second. I’ve lost count how many years the Crows have played round 1, looked a million bucks but by July they has lost all momentum and have lost more games than they had won.

It’s game 1. Good luck to them but a season is a long time.

Yeah, we did.

Were we willing is the question and the side that re signed Laird early gives you the answer

What draft capital did we have? Our earliest pick was in the teens, Melbourne gave up 2 top 10 picks for him and 24.

On what planet did we have that draft capital?

Far out GC have a million set plays. Geelong hapless at working them out too.

This will all even out as season goes on.

They’re not set plays, they’re simply trusting players with the ball to kick to players that they think are the best option. Only idiots think these are set plays. Get the ball, look up and kick to the player that you can see is in the best position.

Football has never changed. Only halfwitted clubs have a couple of ‘leading lanes’ that can be easily closed down.

I dont care what the AFL says, opening round makes zero sense from every perspective. The whole concept of marketing...how many times do they AFL have to be told that no one gives a shit about Aussie rules and plastering an exclusive round up there creates zero net affect. All they are doing is pissing off all the fans that have to wait an extra week.

Geelong were demolished. maybe the year they fall...say that every year

Collingwood looked awful in their first match last year. Came back pretty strongly the next week. People always read too much into Round 1 or 0 or whatever the **** this is.

yeah true and several sides have made a run towards finals after slow starts. So its too early to tell. But signs are not good

Crows never even had the draft capital, only those teams with paranormal draft capital were a.chance
If we convinced him to come, Melb would’ve taken the best offer we put up

There was no way Melb was keeping him beyond 2025

That said, I’m not sure he even wanted to come here in the first place

Im going to go out on a limb and question whether we even asked the question seriously and the reason is he looked like he was cooked. Plus we had ROB and ROB was a top 5 ruckman in the comp. So at the time he went to Sydney its possible we simply didnt see him as pushing his way into the side and not worth spending up draft capital. Sydney needed a ruck and could offer him immediate game time.

Talking about Trac, not Grundy

We would have had to trade a player, a good player.

The question would be did we think we were close enough to a flag tilt that it was worth it to get Trac, the price was always going to be high.

I’m guessing you haven’t looked at last year’s results of the ‘advantaged’ side?
Ill admit not much, but Collingwood flogging Port would suggest they were advantaged somewhat ??

Playing someone who hasnt played a real tempo game yet would have to be an advantage, like it is in every other sport.

Edit - just had a look. 3 of the 4 teams that played R0 last year won the following weekend. Sydney lost to the reigning premiers by less than a goal.

ahh makes sense. Yeah if he chose us he would have got here. It always happens. He didnt and frankly im fine with that.
I’m not

We have a very small chance of winning a premiership while Dawson is on our list, as it currently stands

Other than Dawson, there’s no proven elite mids on our list

Garbage, if they didn’t get what they wanted, they’d have kept him. Oliver was pushed out, Petracca they wanted to keep.

Interesting not for port under Ken. Apparently went 10-3 in the first round and went 10-3 in those corresponding years with finals.
