Port with a cash injection from the AFL and other private investors.

Line of credit, it’s private borrowings. And good on them if they’ve negotiated to get the AFL to match private lendings $ for $. It’s currently looking like a very shrewd manoeuvre and investment.

If it’s not football related, why are the AFL matching anything? Are they getting a cut?

If Port build an investment that returns $8m/year, the AFL won’t have to special fund them to that extent. Whether someone wants to argue they’re getting a cut or not is up to them, but ultimately, they, and therefor the league overall, benefit.

The less clubs on AFL special assistance the better. Plus it’s a loan, as it is from the port people. It doesn’t read like it’s a gift.

We are about to have a new Nick Daicos media like obsession of a player.... May have been a trial but Jagga Smith just had 37 disposals and a goal and he looked bloody awesome.

Totally understand why we were rumoured to try and move up to two ahead of Carlton to take this kid. The knee injury last year sucked but he spent that time putting work into his body.

I can see why we weren't interested in George Stevens. Makes Mitch Grigg look like Rankine.
17 disposals, 7 clearances, 6 tackles, 290 metres gained, and a goal in 40% time on ground looked pretty handy to me.

I'm not sure the new ruck rules are going to be good for the game.

The umpire clearly got that very wrong. He didn’t cross the line to block. He just went to the fall of the ball. I also noticed tonight the umpires cannot throw the ball straight up in the air. That is ridiculous. I also think they should be throwing the ball much higher in the air if they want less chance of knee on knee contact injuries.

Greg Swann and the AFL thanks so much.
The other horrific thing about the rule - apart from the increased injury risk - is how easy it is for an umpire to either pull a free from centre out of thin air OR let a free go on a whim.

You could pick out something from almost every centre bounce that was a free under the new rule if you wanted to get picky enough.

Shocker of a change. Not shocked.

Absolutely spot on.

Perhaps they think those in nearby Cheltenham cemetery will visit.

It may well work but I have my doubts.
There’s a reason they could afford to buy all those properties.

They’ll get locals perhaps buying in, diehard Port supporters, but if you’re not from the area or if you’re a Crows supporter, you’re not buying. So you’ve got a development where a fair chunk of the population won’t be interested.

And isn’t there a saying you shouldn’t overcapitalise in one area but diversify?

Ruck contests are such a nothing part of the game. Not sure why they need to keep ****ing with ruck rules.

Saw the pitonet contest. Jeff white would just tell him to get his knee even higher than dekonig. How high are these knees going to get?
