That Rayner free is even worse than just the staging aspect of it. Just before that he went up to the umpire in question and got right in his face and was very animated about something (as close as you can without touching them, but gee it was very close).

15 seconds later he’s back in the goal square and that same umpire is right there (not watching the play at all, just Rayner and O’Connor). O’Connor then gives Rayner a slight touch and takes that dive, umpire pays free.

David King highlighted it on First Crack last night, was very damning vision for Rayner tbh. It’s umpire intimidation and that umpire fell for it when Rayner then took a dive. AFL has to be harsh on these acts or it’s a dangerous slippery slope.

Well colour me shocked!

You intimidate someone on the football field. Get in their face. Talk some vitriolic crap and distract them until they become unhinged and WHAMMY!! They snap and make a mistake. An error in judgement. Acting incorrectly within the rules or the expectations of their team mates nor the polite masses.

Maybe this is the 'finals experience ' so widely spruiked by oddly unaligned media pack. Many of which have their own skeletons tucked out of view.

Rayner not getting reported means his performance is clearly within the rules of the game.

Collingwood have also shown that provided a couple of words are avoided, goading is now a legitimate intra game tactic. Good to know.

And finally... what will the AFL do when a Rayner type performer quietly tells an on field umpire that his opponent is calling him a forbidden name? (Race, religion, gender etc etc)

Collingwood have proven that a club can orchestrate this and whether true or made up, the precedent is now set. It's possible.

*Rankine was guilty and confessed. I'm not suggesting Collingwood made up this allegation. I'm only including them as a hypothetical example. But anyteam who are desperate enough can now play this card.

I was on the waitlist queue at 9.30am and got to be 2883 at 10am.

I used my iPhone to get tickets both times. Last week I logged on to the waitlist about 10 minutes to 10am and was about 9000 in queue. Had the tickets after about 10 minutes. This time I logged on to the waitlist about a minute before 10am and was 29000 in queue and got the tickets after about an hour and 15 minutes.

Is there an advantage in logging in earlier? I assumed everyone just got spat a random number when it did its thing at 10am, regardless of how long before 10am you logged in?

I rang my wife about 10:20 to see if she could log in on her Mac and she was put to about 29,000. By that time I was down to about 23,000 so figured I'd just need to be patient. Got tickets in 527-2, JJ, so will be looking down from above the old Victoria Park Racecourse.
