I haven't even rode one anywhere for 10 years myself but never understood the weird level of hate for bike riders.

In reality, cyclists should be able to treat most traffic lights as give way signs. That doesn't mean you can fly through an intersection, rather, if it's clear, continue on. It actually helps traffic flow more.

Errrrr, no they shouldn't. If you want to ride on the road, obey the road rules. Allowing cars, buses and trucks to 'treat most traffic lights as give way signs' would help traffic flow more, too.

Then I'll respect that and just clip you as I go past rather than fully running you over.what if I don't wear the lycra?
One foot on their throat, the other on the spokes. What's your stance on vegan cyclists?
This bullshit. Get out of the ******* way!
How would we be going slower if you lot were in cars? 20ks compared to 60+ks.. Not following there.you'd be going slower if all the bikes were in cars
also, depending on the street, it's safer when we stick out and slow you down, so you don't fly past us
deal with it
except that bicycles fundamentally operate differently to cars, buses and trucks -
Not wanting an argument over this, but bike hate is so weird - It's like the lazy ones in a car get really worked up about cyclists getting an advantage on the road or something
I don't hate all cyclists, I just hate the stupid ones--e.g. I'm turning right at the lights, legally, and they then ride up my right side going straight, completely cutting me off. Get on the other side of my car, you fool.
yet cyclists continue to act like ****sticks. 'Oh we'd rather ride on the road' 'Oh we should be allowed to run red lights' 'It's better to ride two or three abreast'. It's no wonder they drive motorists crazy.
That's fine. Someone who doesn't have a bike or some other alternative really is a moron though unless they live smack bang near a useful train line.I have my license but I haven't owned a car for nearly 8 years
Also, some of us non-drivers actually have the physical ability to ride a bike, so you guys don't have to sook about making plans to meet at a train station![]()
23 years old and haven't felt a need to get my license since there's a lot of good public transport where I live, though recently I'm beginning to have a change of heart since a few close friends moved to different parts of Melbourne which is a bitch to get to via train. Once I find the time in the near future I'll probably go for my license.
The older you get the further away your friends move. My high school gang who grew up in a 5km radius of each other now stretch between Airport West, Pakenham and Edithvale. I'm so glad we all drive, otherwise we'd never see each other.
None of my friends would be stupid enough to live in pakenham.
