Like mentioned, he pulled the pin when he knew his body would not be 100% across 4 quarters. Dan wanted to play a final again, god knows he has had little experience in finals but on the last line, he realized being brutaly honest, he could not give 100% so put his hand up. Says a heap in why we love the bloke and why he won our BnF.

To be clear. IT HAS NOTHING to do with standing down due to drugs etc. To suggest that is just really bad form.

This is the world Peter Harcampaigner has created.

Jackson was named on Thursday and retired on Friday. That's sudden. Every sudden retirement will now be greeted with the "was it drugs" question? It has nothing to do with the individual player at all.

These are the people "protecting" the game.

All the best to Daniel Jackson
He was and is a great ambassador for the Tigers
What a huge call to make when you have the chance to play finals and know your body can't stand up to it

Well, I'm going to capitalise on the fact that I'm not dragging filthy peasants along this time and am going to do the balcony.

I am no longer a peasant and will instead be (most likely) dragging a peasant along instead.

If not, I may join you on the balcony.

Always liked Jackson.

For years he was one of the few that provided any cover for Deledio and Cotchin. Gave basically everything he had and had a streak of crazy running through him.

Well said mate. Is a genuinely good bloke does a lot for charity and so on but isn't a flog about it

I've never liked Jackson. But that's to his credit. Has certainly got the most out of his abilities.

It's funny as I get older I'm getting better at realising that these sorts of guys only annoyed me because they were either worth of praise and/or just good and am appreciating them earlier.

Swan for example. The guy is a legend.

Very odd to retire today. I would have thought he would wait until Monday. Only reason would be if he was named in the side IMO.

Richmond unchanged, Port drop the Imp, bring in O'Shea.

If O'Shea is even contemplating a move to St Kilda as the rumours suggest, we should hijack it. Would be an ideal 3.5th tall and a Fletcher replacement capable of playing tall and small.

Aaron Young IMO. Hell why not both, we should have the space, what with our entire list walking out and everything

Not sure Young fills a need although he's a cracking player. Tom Jonas would be the absolutely ideal Fletcher replacement, but O'Shea would be the more attainable.

Sad news about Dan Jackson. One of those players I really had time for. Well spoken, very intelligent, gun of a player when up and about.

Massive call for him to pull the pin on the edge of one of those really intense finals series.

Given up on Pears doing that? Understandable given his injuries and form.

Just seeing how good Trav is going makes me feel like another guy of his ilk could be enormous for this side going forward, but O'Shea would be brilliant, he's actually taller than Hooksy.

Yeah, good call.

Ah, Tayte. :(

He's got 12 months to show he can add something (probably as a forward), if he can't I fear he might be out the door

Another year like this year and he's gone for sure.
