Western Bulldogs have conceded 74 points against Brisbane. Brisbane average 64 points a game. God that's poor defence from the Dogs.

Where to now for the Dogs?

Brisbane @ $3.24 doubled into over 180.5pts for a 5-1 pay out.

Dogs seriously stink. And they are not entirely young either.. very worrying both on and off the field.

It all stems back to recruiting a mid-sized flat track bully forward that goes to water under pressure.

Well, not really, but it was a strange decision to recruit him

3-8

Their upcoming draw is probably the toughest of anyone.

Collingwood
Port Adelaide
Melbourne
Geelong
Gold Coast
Essendon
Hawthorn
St Kilda
North
Sydney
GWS

Could quite easily end up with only 4/5 wins for the year.

this time last year they nearly beat us and were on the way up in a big way!

takes more than a new coach every 3 years to really make a difference

At the start of next season,

Gia - 33
Murphy - 32
Boyd - 32
Morris - 32
Goodes - 31
Minson - 30
Cooney - 29
Williams - 28
Griffen - 28
Picken - 28

5 of their best 22 players are over the age of 30.

I was very much on the band wagon last year.. really thought the dogs would be the one to 'make the leap' this year into the 8-14 chasing pack.. but they have gone backwards in a hurry.

The key problem being their talls.. they don't have enough forward or back.. and their fleet of mid sized players just aren't stepping up.

no doubt the wheels have fallen off.. but I haven't watched enough to understand exactly why. From what I have watched though, they are not contested the ball the same way, they have no accountability, and they have a heap of dead wood in players 14-22 each week.

Too right.. too many.

Gia and Murphy will retire this year I think. Boyd, Morris and Goodes will all go.

Minson will play on and I think Cooney. Williams is 50/50.

Griffen and Minson probably the only guys on that list that will make their best 22 next year.. so still a lot more pain in store.

You would've thought this was the year that the Dogs saw some major improvements. Picked up Crameri to help their forward line (though how effective he's been is up for debate), with some natural progression from guys like Libba, Dahlhouse, Stevens, Macrae etc. They just seem really unaccountable in the midfield and unable to put up big scores. Teams rebound too easily against them and Jones/Crameri make for a pretty poor forward duo.

imo things will get worse before they get better. Cooney, Minson, Gian, Boyd and a few others are nearing or past 30.

Their game against us last year was the start of some really good form. Get within 10 points of us, (Top 4 side at the time), Push the Hawks within 20 points away in Tasmania, Knock off the Eagles, A respectable game against the Swans, solid wins against Carlton & Adelaide, Almost beat Brisbane after being 56 points down and finnish off with a win against Melbourne.

They just haven't improved since last year. I see very little upwards trajectory.

My Western Bulldogs supporting mate was at the game tonight and was furious for his performance. I got about 10 texts in a row when Crameri gave away a stupid 50M penalty which resulted in a goal for Patfull. Patfull has kicked about 5 goals in 5 years.

$450k a year for him is way overs. I honestly think our offer of $350k was overs. Wouldn't pay him more than $300k a year, probably closer to $270-280k even then

I have a good friend who's a Bullies supporter, goes week in - week out. she tells me that its the Richmond syndrome... not enough hard nuts / big bodies. they're fine when everybody is up and about.... plenty of momentum, but apply some one on one pressure and they go to pieces. I think she's on the money.

Nah, they win a lot of contested footy. Thay just have so many players that butcher the ball

Their ball use is seriously putrid.

Other than Macrae, Cooney, Griffen, Murphy, Gia and Higgins, they have terrible users of the pill. Well, Wood and Dahlhaus are alright I guess

it's not the 450k that's the issue, it's the 4 years. that's an enormous opinion.

No way anyone was getting him for 270k unless they gave him an 8-10 year deal

That's what he's worth. He's an average 3rd tall forward with poor defensive skills and a poor tank.
