Alright guys, a non Essendon thread for Essendon fans.

If there's one already dedicated to this topic, please merge.

Some questions

  1. Can Port Adelaide take their game to another level?
  2. Can Richmond make the finals and, if yes, can they get past the first week?
  3. Are there any players you reckon are itching to have THAT breakthrough year?
  4. Have the Dees got what it takes to play a non scrappy style game?
  5. Can Jack Watts ever improve or is he wasted at the Dees and therefore needing a better run at another club?
  6. Who'll win the Rising Star?
  7. Who are you looking forward to watching this year (both team and player?)
  8. Finally, from left of field, what will be the average score at the end of this season?
Can't wait for Hawthorn vs Collingwood tonight.

FOOTY'S BACK!

1. No - they have ordinary depth and were very lucky with injuries in 2014. They will use the argument that Ryder improves them but all it means is having two number one rucks in one team which ultimately IMO won't work.

2. Yes tigers can make finals. Depending on injuries either way they are capable of winning a final.

3. Adelaide - Mitch Grigg, Carlton - P.Cripps, Hawthorn - J.Anderson, Melbourne - Toumpas, NM - Atley, WC - Sheed

4. Roos instructs a scrappy game so no.

5. Watts is an ordinary player regardless of club.

6. Dom Sheed

7. Paddy McCartin (watch most teams anyway)

8. 92

Good batch of nominations for the 3rd point.

Crippa sounds like a real hard arse and is real thick bodied.
Hope Toumpas' development isn't hindered by the Dees.

Looking forward to Boomer getting to 400 games and, then, 404 games.

P.s. I don't want this thread to revolve around the 8 questions I posted.

1. Yes - but only marginally.
2. Yes and no. I think there will still be stronger teams ahead of them.
3. Jack Watts
4. I think so, but maybe next year. I still see one or two BIG losses this season.
5. I think he's just average.
6. NFI
7. Gold Coast Suns and Dayne Beams in the Lions midfield.
8. 80

  1. I think they'll get to the prelim again this season but their game plan will start to be dismantled by other coaches. Around the same level.
  2. They can make the finals but they won't win one.
  3. Crouch, Adams, Kavanagh...
  4. Time will tell but I think they'll make significant improvement this year
  5. He can improve if he's fitter
  6. Cockatoo
  7. Brisbane and de Goey
  8. 87

FOOTY'S BACK!

1. Yes - A vast improvement again from guys like Ollie Wines, Chad Wingard, Matthew Lobbe, Jaspar Pittard will see them go from strength to strength.

2. Yes - Their best 22 is as good as anyone's. Depth will be the key from here on in for the Tiggies.

3. Alex Woodward (Hawthorn), Hayden Crozier (Fremantle)

4. No, mostly inside ball winners out to below average outside players sees a non scrappy game style more than likely.

5. No, he needs better players around him to look good.

6. Tim Broomhead (Collingwood)

7. Gold Coast Suns, West Coast Eagles, Port Adelaide Power, Richmond Tigers

8. 86 points per game

1. I have a gut feeling they'll fall back. They're just far too certain to make the step to premiership glory, and nothing is certain in footy.
2. Yes and yes they can if it is in Melbourne. There's a chance we could have the longest finals losing streak soon.
3. Christian Salem.
4. The list isn't skilful enough to put out a decent style quite yet.
5. He's an absolute bust at Melbourne and I can't see him becoming anything near decent there. A new club might be what he needs.
6. Nakia Cockatoo. Plays for Geelong, won't need to do heaps to get noticed.
7. Gold Coast Suns, should be their first finals appearance. New fans will jump on board for the ride.
8. 85 points averaged.

Some questions

  1. Can Port Adelaide take their game to another level? Yes. hopefully a shitty, shitty level where everyone hates them and they hate each other. Why? because **** Patrick Ryder that's why.
  2. Can Richmond make the finals and, if yes, can they get past the first week? Yes, Anyone can make the finals. All it takes is a vindictive little chairman deciding to throw a team that has earned it out. Can they get there on their own merits. No. No they cannot.
  3. Are there any players you reckon are itching to have THAT breakthrough year? Yes - Every single one of them
  4. Have the Dees got what it takes to play a non scrappy style game? Probably, but not against us. They will play that scrappy style of game against us, and beat us... again.
  5. Can Jack Watts ever improve or is he wasted at the Dees and therefore needing a better run at another club? He will be a gun this year or next, then he will fade away like that Shane kid who had one massive year then was hated for being mediocre afterwards
  6. Who'll win the Rising Star? Ask David King
  7. Who are you looking forward to watching this year (both team and player?) Essendon and Ambrose, Patrick Ashby, Jason Aylett, Kurt (R) Baguley, Mark Bellchambers, Tom Browne, Alex Carlisle, Jake Chapman, Paul Colyer, Travis Cooney, Adam Dalgleish, Lauchlan Daniher, Joe Dempsey, Courtenay Edwards, Shaun Fantasia, Orazio Fletcher, Dustin Giles, Jonathan Gleeson, Martin Goddard, Brendon Gwilt, James Hams, Will Heppell, Dyson Hibberd, Michael Hocking, Heath Hooker, Cale Howlett, Ben Hurley, Michael Kavanagh, Elliott Kommer, Nicholas Langford, Kyle Laverde, Jayden Long, Jake (R) McKenna, Conor (R) McKernan, Shaun (R) Melksham, Jake Merrett, Jackson Merrett, Zachary Myers, David O'Brien, Nicholas Pears, Tayte Stanton, Brent Steinberg, Ariel (R) Watson, Jobe Winderlich, Jason Zaharakis, David
  8. Finally, from left of field, what will be the average score at the end of this season? 14.12.96

Watched the whole game, only reason I'm still awake is because Carlton is losing!
Yeah but that means the pissweaks are winning. Don't want to watch that either. Cue back page in the West tomorrow proclaiming them 2015 GF montys.

This was probably always going to be a bad game for me to try and ease back into footy with.

Can already see Gerard Healy putting a piece together.

Can Port Adelaide take their game to another level? Yes, the addition of Ryder settles all their KPP's and gives them a very dangerous side.

Can Richmond make the finals and, if yes, can they get past the first week? Yes and maybe. If they get North, Essendon or Geelong, a definite chance.

Are there any players you reckon are itching to have THAT breakthrough year? Stephen Coniglio

Have the Dees got what it takes to play a non scrappy style game? Depends, their midfield needs more skills.

Can Jack Watts ever improve or is he wasted at the Dees and therefore needing a better run at another club? No idea, but there are only 5 coaches in the AFL who can get it out of him, Roos, Clarkson, Lyon, Longmire and Hinkley.

Who'll win the Rising Star? Paul Ahern

Who are you looking forward to watching this year (both team and player?) Brisbane and Spencer White (St. K)

Finally, from left of field, what will be the average score at the end of this season? 87.

Watching the Eagles Blues game before, thought Kristian Jaksch and Clem Smith equipped themselves well but Levi Casboult looked a bit ordinary for Carlton.

Good to see JJK's taken some of the stutter step out of his run-up.

Overall, game was pretty boring.

Was only really watching for SC reasons, but Smith, Boekhorst, DVR, Fields and Dick all underwhelming. Lamb did one or two nice things but nothing special. Duggan didn't play.
Like all bomber fans I'm hoping we win the modern day Tambling/Franklin battle so it warms the cockles of my heart to hear that Boekhorst was underwhelming.

Did a double-take last night. Thought Heppell was out there.

In other news, Australia in a world of trouble against NZ. Brilliant bowling by Boult and Vettori.
