I love it when people make assumptions of shitness based on pre-season. GWS didn't win a game in pre-season last year. I guess they were shit too.

Even if that was actually true, here's a summary of my sympathy:

HahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahahaHahahahahaha

Okay I'm done.

Too much. My level of sympathy would be, tough, eat shit campaigners.

Not sure how fans actually think commentators are going to talk positively about their team if they are losing.

The whole point of them game is to win if your not winning your gonna cop it.

Maybe the commentators can give them an encouragement award.

There is a difference between not winning and looking utter rubbish.

We didn't win a game but look okay. Geelong won't do too bad despite not winning a game.

Port and Carlton however look rubbish. Port are way too slow

Woooooosh

Selwood was just the icing on the cake with Geelong's relationship with TAC. Lots of covering up been done in the past, although I'm sure most football clubs do the same thing.

I honestly don't know what I missed
I read it so many times
Making judgements on pre-season form is as stupid as using Supercoach scores to justify which key defender is better.

I'd rather:

Hartley 7.5/10 defence, 7.5/10 offense
Hurley 9/10 defence, 9/10 offense
Brown 7/10 offense

To:

Hartley 7.5/10 defence, 7.5/10 offense
Ambrose 7/10 defense, 2/10 offense
Hurley 10/10 offense

Overall: 40/50 vs 34/50. I understand why Ambrose could be preferred. Just don't think limiting ourselves offensively for really no net defensive gain is the right move

I don't think there was a lot of covering up, the indiscretions of Simpson, Smedts and finally Selwood are well known.

I would have thought Geelong would be the logical place for TAC sponsorship because the TAC is one of the biggest employers in the city and probably the biggest corporation based there. Doubt they'll go to another AFL club now, perhaps AFLW? Melbourne City or the Renegades or perhaps just a few golf/tennis tournaments.

IMO, they should focus on motorsport, much more targeted at an audience of likely high-risk drivers. Better to get the hands dirty than sponsor an event full of perfectly behaved people who don't need to hear the message.

How and why did we get to the stage that banning third man up became an absolute ban on any player other than the two nominated ruckmen touching the ball in the air?

Isn't the aim to protect the ruck contest? Why couldn't the umpires just enforce existing rules and penalise blocking of the run of nominated rucks and otherwise empowering impeded rucks to steamroll anyone in their way? Why not ban other players engaging the ruck contest (i.e. jumping on the ruckmen)?

I accept that it leaves a bit of grey but we could have used 3 JLT games to settle on the thresholds and the players would adapt. The biggest problem with ruck contests is the overzealous and inconsistent umpiring where umpires try to apply ordinary rules to a contest that is, by default, a wrestle. There should be almost no free kicks paid in ruck contests.

McCluggage injured and will miss the start of the year for lions, no such problems for our boy McGrath ;) Seriously though lions cant take a trick with their young guys

Head physio/ruck coach/ball boy/chef/forward coach/webmaster Ben Hudson will get him right

I can't believe you just tempted fate with this.
If McGrath gets injured before Round 1 I'll can myself from posting until he plays again haha

I'm close to someone who used to work for the club, there were many more incidents than just the four reported in the media I can assure you.

I'm sure lots more go on at all clubs, but it only really matters when they go public. I wonder if you include red light cameras and speed camera tickets which are essentially a part of every day life rather than a sign of disregard for road rules.

It's a strange world when a speeding fine attracts the attention of a club's Leadership Group - Are we inventing jobs for the Leadership Group ?
