So? What's your point? We all knew these player's traits last year. Doesn't change the fact they should be 6-1 & are going prob better than anyone.

You've also dismissed Richmond on the basis of one bad half in Adelaide?? Who haven't they flogged over there? Agree they're not a top 4 threat this year, but to imply they haven't improved significantly from 2015/16 is ignorant.

My point is that their premiership is a victory for opportunism until proven otherwise. It is pointless to use them as a model for what can be achieved.

I dismiss Richmond for the following reasons:

1. Best 22 players who are suspect for varying reasons: Grigg, Houli, Miles and Lambert.

2. Midfield depth built on the supposed quality of Cotchin, Prestia, B. Ellis and Caddy.

3. Last night they played Soldo, Markov, Rioli, Butler, C. Ellis and Elton who at best are potentially AFL players.

4. A collective of players which is probably the least intelligent (football IQ) in the AFL.

5. Suspect coaching, strange use of players, strange balance of players selected which hurts midfield balance.

I dismiss Richmond based on watching them play this year (I missed their Adelaide game). Last night was the best they'd played from what I've seen by a long way. They still lost. Outside of Dusty, Rance (who is seriously overated, still a good player, but overated) and Jack, there hadn't been any signs of football good enough to challenge for the 8.

Cant agree with you on Doggies, very good team.

As you say "until proven otherwise", and then all the hindsight warriors come out saying how they always thought they were a good team.

Both the Geelong and Hawks teams went into GF's as underdogs but now it's widely accepted how good they were.

And you may not rate Richmond but I though the better team lost last week against GWS in Canberra.

Ugh. Why are we obsessed with "winning" this trade? Right now it looks a good deal for all the parties involved.
Win/ win is good business.

Can't be in too much trouble, surely. I mean, half his team didn't even rock up to the game at the MCG last weekend!
Was just thinking that the team hasn't rocked up to training all year :D

Sooo...

Overrated medical staff or did they overpay? Pre-injury JOM would be worth those picks, but having missed half his games since joining the club?

Hmmm

Hawthorn has made a late change to its side ahead of its Round 7 clash with Melbourne.

Jaeger O’Meara comes out of the side with knee soreness, and will be replaced by Will Langford.

GM- Football Operations Jason Burt said O’Meara was still not feeling 100% following the Hawks’ loss to St Kilda last week.

“Jaeger was feeling great going into last week’s clash but unfortunately, despite us giving him every opportunity to get up for today’s match, he still has some soreness around his knee,” said Burt.

“Fortunately, the irritation is still in relation to the knock he received in Round 2 and separate from the problems Jaeger has faced in the past.

“We have said all along, given his history, we will take a cautious approach.

“We are hopeful the soreness will settle relatively quickly and then it will be about ensuring that Jaeger has a solid block of conditioning before he comes back into the side.

“Both Jaeger and the club want to ensure that he is feeling 100% for a period of time before he returns to senior football.

“We have absolute confidence that Jaeger will play consistent, sustained football for the Hawks.

“We want to ensure that he steps onto the field with that same confidence, and that means giving him the time to get a solid block of training and conditioning under his belt before he returns again.”

That last bit makes me think he's on ice for a long while now. Might not even see him for the rest of the year, good ol' biscuit knees

Sydney looking the goods today. Might have finally switched on.

Kicked 82 before half time, Buddy's looking like he realised he has to work for money.

Looks like we dodged a bullet there, thanks Jaeger for choosing the Hawks.

Seems like a decent kid though so I hope that he does get a year off - to do what can be done to repair his knees and to give him the best chance of coming back slightly removed from the hype of the deal that got him to Hawthorn. It would be great if he could enjoy playing again, whether or not at the same level as pre-injury. In the end, he's a kid whose injuries have derailed what could have been a wonderful career.

And, in the meanwhile, we would get to enjoy the Hawks having to explain his absence for a whole, very long year and pick apart their team selections and draft decisions. Delicious!

Whilst it's easy to laugh at Hawthorn here I have to be honest and say I feel for O'Meara.

It must be bloody hard for him having to sit out of the game
True and I agree but the smug supporters only have themselves to blame for their own hubris.
