Re: North Central Football League

You know I am so over the whole Wedderburn experience "burn" being a good name for Stenna, Sunshine footy club really looked after Darren extremely well and the thanks we get is that his new club uses Sunshine as a feeding ground, last year he and Baird ( meaning we lost of Full forward and full back) they went for money that is crazy and now this year after to speaking to 4 or 5 players got 2 - one being the WRFL Comp B & F, and the other a good seconds player with the potential to play seniors, after missing nearly a whole season.
Nothing against Rusty and Sono but they money that they have offered these 2 young guys is obscene and if you can get it - take it.
It is really dissappointing that the management of Wedderburn continue to try and bleed one club dry, with offers of not having to train, sign on fees, free accomodation and then huge match payments. What happens to loyoaty wen there is no more money??
So in the previous posts over the last year people have stated that Wedderburn don't pay big money - well hate to burst your bubble but they do...

Wedderburn would be no different to about 60-80% of other country footy league clubs doing the same thing. It is unfortunate for your club but that is the way footy is going. All you can do is look after your players as best you can and hopefully the loyalty rubs off on them. I would imagine it would be Baird and Stenhouse's pull more so than the money that has got them out there. No one would drive out to the sticks just for money.

I know you would like to think, but trust me for the money they are being paid I would drive a long distance, oppps sorry i would get driven a long distance as well. We like to think that we look after our players but when they are doubling their payment it's hard to compete

I understand that but if you cant compete then there is not much you can do about it. I dont see any point in having a go at a club for shelling out cash. They aren't the first and they wont be the last and good luck to them if they want to go down that path. I certainly understand your disappointment though.

Its not that its the fact that stenna continues to call all our players - I know as a club we wouldn't target a whole club for 2 years, it just not on. My point was over the last year numerous people got on here saying that Wedderburn don't pay money ..... it is a pisser Good on them - they won a flag but does it win loyalty??

Sound like this stenna is a real c*ck head, you can only hope there r a few NCFL locals that would like to "welcome" these blokes from Sunshine and ensure they earn there money. Chin up Doggies old fella a year or 2 in sh!thole like wedderburn will have them crawling back to you.

Youre spot on although Rusty Douglas will tear this comp apart next year.

He is an absolute star.

Re: North Central Football League

There was a Pioneers practice match on 2day in Robinvale.. I think 5 ncfl boys are remaining.. Pretty sure they still have to cut 10 out of the 50 remaining though!

Re: North Central Football League

MOR Great bit of reading in amongst the junk mail today St.AFC flyer Sensational. Just wondering if there was a possibility of getting link to the flyer on the net? The professional approach that Mr Kay is bringing to the club is great. Can't wait for the next issue hopefully you may have some pictures with names of blokes who are going to play for St.Arnaud in 2008. At least the football department is in good shape as for the playing list who knows???????

Re: North Central Football League

Fevas clearance to the Burn has been cancelled, cold feet perhaps or perhaps not enough dollars, or even playing second string to Rusty Douglas didn`t suit him to well. Feva only thinks of one person and thats himself, the Burn might be better off without him. Rusty Douglas must be one hell of a player but is he as good as Rick Andrews?

I'm guessing cause Fev couldn't be cleared to two places at the same time.. Currently he has been cleared to Nightcliffe in the NT, and when he goes to come back he will need to be cleared from there to whereever he wants.

Spoke with Trev Arnell (HDFL/BFL/LVFL Sec.) he tells me that its only a temp. clearance up north and when finished up there he'll be cleared back to Elmore then they'll put in for another clearance to the Burn, but going from the growing list of departures from Elmore, and aparently still more to come, the Burn may find it hard for Elmore to give him up.

I'm not sure that a couple of players over 2 years means a club is being "targeted" - a look at the transfers list of any county club will confirm comings and goings every year - just look at Elmore..

You right - but that doesn't include the additional 5 or 6 that we have to increase their payments to keep. Country football is amazing for the amount of movement - my question to the locals of the club how do they feel when you have a lot of players from the city come in, not train, not support the club and then go again at the end of the season. I admire the committees and volunteers who continually and to deal with this

owhenthesaints has been reported to be seen down at powerhouse club South Barwon F.C with good mate and coach Dale Amos. Rumour has it that he is down trying to pinch some of Dales match day game plans, training drills and hopefully for the saints him as a player:eek:

Apparently owhen has been given a huge job on match day at St.Arnaud, will be interesting to see what initiatives will becoming from the saints bench this year!

Re: North Central Football League

Who are these guys Palmer, Wild, Andison and Castleman that have all put in clearances to play with the saints next year? Are these guys senior players?

How many numbers are attending the training track?

BIG names slow. Donald Palmer quick 6ft 2" Half Forward, Leigh Wild brother to Jake and Ricky coming to St.Arnaud training hard for the first up Birchip game, reserves Mick Andison specialist forward pocket haven't seen him at training yet, Clint Castleman Big forward hard nut played up the mallee last year get him fit take alot of holding down. Numbers at training have been good from all reports getting 20 odd each night. With these blokes playing at St.Arnaud im sure bar takings will be up and the scocial side will be firing at St.Arnaud this year just how Mr President Beefy likes it!!!!
