North Robbed

You'd have to say that given the defensiveness of West Coast fans, they realise they were gifted this game.

As a neutral there is no doubt that umpiring ruined an exciting contest for me. The systematic umpiring bias in Perth is a blight on the game. If the AFL was serious about running a fair league they would do something about it.

West Coast were not gifted this match.

Why do peoples memories only extend to the last 5 minutes of the game?

- If the umps were trying to gift it to West Coast, why did they overlook so many more obvious free kicks? (I understand that this contributes to people's frustration - that they 'missed' so much before picking one out).

- Watch the replay again - when Adams "re-applies" the tackle, his left arm is around Selwood's neck. This is what the umpire was talking about with the 'second action', and it was a free kick. I won't say it was a 'clear' free given the context of the match, but it was there.

- If the umps were trying to gift it to West Coast, why did North get such a clear benefit from the umpiring in the first 3 quarters?

The fact is this - North have now lost 3 games by less than a goal, and it's the second time they've blamed umpires.

But in both cases, blaming the umpires is ridiculous - in both cases, they had a match winning lead, before gassing it to the extent where it was put in the umpires hands.

With all that said - I endorse the incessant whinging by North and it's fans. They got RIDICULOUS amounts of "justice" handed to them following the Geelong game. Why not try it again?

I bet none of the North fans claiming that the umpires cost you this one care for a minute - or will even admit - that the umpires handed you the Port Adelaide game.

There are weeks where this claim wouldn't have been beyond ridiculous.

This is not one of those weeks. Watch the whole game before declaring that West Coast benefited from 'systematic umpiring bias'.

The Port game? we won that purely because Port were asleep at the start and allowed us to get out by almost 40 points. To compare the decisions in that game to last nights is absurd.

So they didn't gas it in the exact same way they did against Geelong, with the umpires keeping them in it enough to eventually win.

Ok

You got 14 frees in a row whilst we were "asleep".

I believe the free kick count was 5-0 to North at quarter time last night as well, but they are clearly victimized ;)

What did they say after the Port game?

The count was high but North were better.

Do you plan on hiding behind Port Adelaide for the rest of your life?

Don't need to Mario, just finding the constant blubbering from north supporters amusing after they basically told Port to harden up after they got a far better ride from the umps then we did last night. Hypocrisy at it's finest.

I know.

Let's talk about anything other than last nights umpiring embarrassment.

I get it.

Pretty much every media commentator in Melbourne have stated that North were robbed.

Eddie was trying to get attention on the Selwoods because of tonight's game. Dermie was being Dermie and Gerard was being ignored because what he was trying to say didn't fit in with their agenda.
Watch 360 next week and you will see that the free was there.

Yep, that's it.:thumbsu:

Collingwood v Geelong couldn't generate enough interest without North v interstate umpiring controversy.

You must be one of them "meeja" guys

Mario there's no point debating anything with you because once you wrap your mind about one particular point of view there's no changing it. Different points of view have been covered numerous times in this thread already and as is your fashion you've glossed over all of them because it doesn't suit your agenda.

Even Dermie had a go at him at one stage.
Watch to the full replay again and listen to Eddie use his soapbox about the Selwoods, not Selwood or WCE, but how all the Selwoods and their junior team mates are experts at dropping the shoulder.

If you're like me you should hopefully have learned to tune Eddie out any time soon. The amount of soapboxing he does on Fox's footy coverage is disgraceful.

His Selwood soapbox ahead of the Collingwood/Geelong game was pathetic - but it's far from the worst I've seen of him.

Laws of the Game (Fan Edition): A generic footy fan's team is always robbed by the Umpires when beaten. The Umpires play no part in the result when the same generic footy fan's team wins.

Occasionally, just occasionally, there is a different style of footy fan whose head is safely shrouded in tinfoil.

erm no, on abc readio this morning the three victoian commentators agree that the better team won and conceeded that there was not adequate vision to say that the selwood free wasnt there. They also mentioned a few frees that wend norths way.

Not once were the words robbed, cheated or unfair loss used.

FFS it was the second contact that was clearly displayed to no one that was paid as a free. When are you north supporters going to understand that Selwood didnt duck his head and that he was courageous.

Are you referring to the yokel version of ABC radio?

ABC radio (Melbourne) this afternoon reported that North were robbed.

which commentator exactly? the three on 774 this morning had a more intelligent analysis of the game than you'll find on any show eddie is on. and if its all over the radio then surely its all over the papers too? yet i read a lot about the game and the harshest comment i've heard is 'controversial' and that was in a murdoch paper.

But Clarkson abusing other parents and umpires at a local kids football match, punching holes in walls in full display of tv cameras, and calling journo's ********s is an excellent image for kids?

No coach holds a candle to Clarkson in the hissy fit, petulant, a-hole stakes. His form on this score is second to none.

So? What has clarko got to do with the Scott boys? Oh its because i support Hawthorn isnt it?

Clarkson has anger control issues, but he gets angry about his teams performances, he never moans about umpires like a child.
