They might have been looking for the wrong thing. As I said, more angles are needed.

I suspect the tackler made high contact initially that was declared a duck and OK, his arm then fell loose and he made high contact again on the ground - hence the umpire saying it was the 2nd one.

You're wrong.

They mocked the decision on Fox Footy, laughed and looked away from the camera then made sure that everyone watching knew how many frees like this Adam Selwood and Luke Shuey have received in the last 5 years.

The umpire clearly stated that Swallow's 2nd tackle was high, the replay showed it was nowhere near his upper body let alone his neck.

Holy Shit I love all the Port fans laying in the boots after their game last week.
bloody funny as hell.
I have never seen so many Port supporters like I have in this thread.
Keep up the good work Port fans:thumbsu:

Blame umps all we want but we lost 3 games by less than a goal and should of won most of the first 8 games. We are simply not good enough yet.

This is clearly unfair because as we all know it is a scientifically proven fact that umpiring has never affected interstate sides in Victoria, and North Melbourne are as we all know, yet to be on the positive side of the free kick count this year.

On a separate and unrelated note, very much looking forward to what I have no reason to assume will be anything other than an evenly-umpired contest between North and Adelaide next week with no one team favoured and consistent interpretations of every rule that are evenly applied to both teams.

home town umpiring, ducking players are nothing new, deal with it north supporters. its not like west coast got 23 more free kicks or anything. (the selwoods brothers do piss me off too)
It's funny how you're still crying about that when your team got belted by the Tigers last week and will chalk up their third loss on the trot this weekend.

Again, I think they were looking at the wrong thing.

The umpire didn't mention Swallow. He said "second one was high - on the ground". Which I suspect means the second high contact from Adams.

I think the commentators misinterpreted and looked for the wrong incident because of the poor camera angle.

Adams made the second contact. His initial contact was OK, his arm fell loose and he wrapped him up over his shoulder again whilst on the ground I suspect.
unfortunately the conscious from an umpire or player when a result like that occurs means sweet **** all to changing the overall result

No the ump never mentioned Swallow, it could be Adams 2nd tackle? Maybe...
Anyway no matter where you look there is no 2nd high contact anywhere. I'm pretty sure the ump just pulled a rabbit from his hat here.
I'm bewildered.

Umpire paid the initial high contact late.

A tackle over the shoulder should never be a free kick unless it hits the head with unreasonable force. Of course when pack skirters like Bartlett direct the rules of the game, you're bound to get more tiggy touchwood frees paid.

Everyone comments how incorrect disposal is never paid any more. Which player was king of dropping the ball just as he was about to get tackled in his day? Kevin Bartlett.

It's a directive from AFL house to pay frees in this way. Players know this and act accordingly. Direct your ire not at the umpires, not at the players, but at the time servers working at the AFL.

No he didn't pay it late. The umpire clearly says the 2nd high tackle. Which there is not.

Seems like the umps missed the first clearly high tackle on selwood

Fortunately they saw a second dubious one and paid that instead preventing the eagles getting robbed due to an obviously missed free kick

Both player knees are bent almost equally. It's quite hard to run with straight knees.

Are you kidding? Selwood looks like he's sitting in an imaginary chair. Would he be able to hold this position? No. His motion was to take himself to the ground. This is a blight on our game.
