Yep you had enough chances, but doesn't matter when you have friends to keep you in the game ;)
you should know. Did the umpires pat Wellsy on the back again tonight?

We won fair and square, and our athletic freak of nature all-australian ruckman kicked a goal after the siren to win, while yours sat on the bench half-way through the 3rd after being subbed off.

Winners are grinner and losers can please themselves!! Oh baby what a night!!!!!!!!!!!!1

this reminds when Jimmy Bartel was awarded a clear free kick for in the back and the North Melbourne supporters carried on about it for weeks but again, North Melbourne are up by 15 points at the 17 minute mark, they concede a goal and it's back to 9 points.
North once again win the centre clearance and Petrie marks but kicks it out of bounce where North eventually kick a behind.
West Coast go coast to coast and kick another goal so the margin is now 3 points.
North get yet another opportunity in front of goal but kick a behind and West Coast run it up the other end and the rest is history.

The umpire did NOT call a "second tackle". He called the "second one".

He adjudged the first high contact in the tackle to be legal but the "second one" illegal.

This doesn't add up, its one tackle from Adams, its not a "second one"...if an originally decent tackle slips high you never hear an ump say "second one"..he will just call it high.

Port being shit is even more delicious ;) I love how you can beat sides when you play terribly. Lucky we played Port a few weeks ago :thumbsu:

north supporters having a massive sooky lala about the umpires is delicious. dont you see the irony.

Get your head out of your arse, he has his arms around him tackling him, does he magically let him go and then grab him again high all in a nano second? I'm not sure why you are trying to defend a poor decision, you won, so just be happy the moron made the error. But as rightly pointed out the biggest blunder of all happened when Scott Selwood evidently touched a ball yet his hand was a good half a metre away from it. That umpire should take a long rest, because that is either blatant cheating or a horrible guess?

Got to love the Port supporters getting pleasure out of this. Well still doesn't change the fact that you are shit and the 2013 record books will say North Melbourne defeated Port Adelaide, so shove that in your mouth and suck on it!

It's the second contact within the same tackle. It was to differentiate between the initial high tackle that was deemed legal and the second contact that occurred on the ground that was illegal.

Without a better angle it's difficult to see the severity. I suspect Adams's swung his arm over his shoulder on the ground in an attempt to get the ball.

I'm not saying this is definitely the scenario but I bet that's what the umpire was looking at.

I don't accept the premise that one-to-two umpiring calls can effect the outcome of a game that is played over four quarters. Correct call was made for high contact on Selwood, every other individual call can be considered irrelevant as it is impossible to irrefutably determine the complete series of events that would have subsequently arisen from a different outcome. North had ample opportunity to deny West Coast the victory, right up to and including the final marking contest - they lost this game themselves.

Congrats West Coast.

The tacklers have to start hurting these blokes who choose to bend their knees. A couple of knee injuries as a result of bent knees in a tackle may make this a less attractive option for players.
Yep it will be the biggest outrage if one of these guys is put in hospital with a neck injury, yet the AFL is the ones that have encouraged them to duck by continually paying them free kicks.

Piss off mate. Watch the footage. Adams' left arm takes Selwood high which is deemed legal. As they fall to the ground, his arm comes loose. Once they hit the ground and scramble for the ball, it's perfectly conceivable that his left arm again made high contact but this time illegal.

Why are we talking about Port. Your shit get over it!

no one is talking about port, only you buddy "Port being shit is even more delicious ;) I love how you can beat sides when you play terribly. Lucky we played Port a few weeks ago :thumbsu:" remember.
perhaps because north supporters are whinging like little girls about a couple of frees a few weeks after getting 23 more free kicks than port

That is high, no possible way to dispute it.

Not really, I see a bitter little man who barracks for a rabble getting pleasure out of something that doesn't even involve his team ;) But yet again barracking for Port you need to take what you can get champ!

It is a tad unusual that Selwood is looking to have a sit down during the crucial stages of a game. Normally a player would head to the interchange bench if he needs to sit down.

There were three decisions I'm absolutely fuming about.

1. The Ryan Bastinac advantage decision where there was no advantage and a blind man could see that Basti didn't want to play on. That cost a shot on goal.

2. The free kick to Kennedy against Thompson on the wing. Thompson was clearly in front and there was no way he could have infringed. West Coast scored a goal with a mark from that kick.

3. The Black mark that was called touched when it was clearly not touched. Cost North a certain goal and totally shifted the momentum of the game.

On the first 2
1) Bastinac was running into space when he had the ball, it's why the ump called play on. He still had a few metres on his opponent but stood like a rabbit in the headlights so it's not the umps fault he didn't use the advantage. Bastinac still and missed it, it didn't cost you a shot on goal.

2) Thompson had a hold of Kennedy's arm which is why it was paid.

3) It was a bad call, there's no arguements there but he had a split second to pay it.

One could argue that Firrito's hand trip on Sheppard should have been an automatic 50 so that cost us a gimme goal as well.

strange comments. just had a quick look at the ladder. 4th vs 10th. I love this thread.
Take a picture now, will be the last time you will see your team that high for the rest of the year. In fact all your good start has done is deny you a good draft pick, because I'm sure the losses will start racking up now ;) But that's enough about Port, because your not even worth talking about anymore.

On 3, so he has a split second to guess it don't you mean? Because I thought the umpires weren't meant to pay something that they didn't see and if he saw a touch he has some real eye issues?

It seemed a few of the players were tired tonight, Swallow and Thomas for instance had a lie down and rest on a number of occasions.

I think the trip has to be deemed deliberate, Firrito was clearly falling to ground and just clipped him with an out stretched arm, hard to call that a deliberate trip.

The afl are clearly still pissed at norths refusal to move to the Gold Coast. The umpires are under strict instructions to rip as many close games form the kangaroos grasp as possible.

Expect many more years of this north fans.

He thought it was touched, he made the wrong call.

These things happen ya'know? Just ask the many Port supporters in here about that :)
