Tiwi Adam Tipungwuti has landed at North Melbourne in his bid to join cousin Anthony on AFL fields

GREY MORRIS, NT News
February 13, 2020 3:11pm
TIWI Bomber Adam Tipungwuti has landed at VFL club North Melbourne in a bid to reignite his passion to play AFL football.
The 23-year-old has already had playing stints at NEAFL clubs Sydney and Territory Thunder.
Tipungwuti made his NTFL Premier League debut with the Bombers as a raw 16-year-old before moving to Wanderers for the 2016/17 season.

His leg speed, good skills with hand and feet and top five testing in vertical jumps and agility tests at national draft combines also attracted interest from Essendon.
Bombers’ general manager Leigh Crossman said Tipungwuti had spoken to a “a few different clubs’’ who showed interest in him.

“Adam’s got a pretty good relationship with Brendan Whitecross, who is a development coach at North Melbourne,’’ Cross added.

“He lived with Brendan’s mum and dad when he went to school on the Gold Coast, so that’s where the link is and the knowledge he’s going to get looked after.’’

Crossman said Tipungwuti’s sudden exit from the NTFL after he starred as a wingman in the 15-point loss to Nightcliff two weeks ago had come as a surprise.

“But we’re not going to stand in his way, there’s every chance he’ll be back to play in the finals before returning to North for the pre-season.

“We know if he is to achieve what he wants to achieve, the best way to do that is at North Melbourne where it can all start for him.’’
Crossman said Tipungwuti had worked hard in pursuit of his AFL dream, even training by himself for long periods.
“Now he’ll go from an environment of training twice a week with about 15 teammates to a full-on regimen where 50 blokes are out there full time,’’ Crossman said.
“His cousin Anthony Tipungwuti broke into the league side at Essendon with the right attitude, so there’s no reason this guy can’t repeat that.’’

Best of luck to him. Would love a pacey small that can play forward or back.

Hopefully he will come on to the list ASAP maybe for Jacobs?
As for running down and tackling a McMillan wouldn’t get to excited as now McMillan like McDonald Turner McKay and Hall have joined a new club .
The list cloggers club.
That was my thought re Jacobs.

I just want another fast small forward akin to the days of Matty Campbell.

Dazzling display is a bit of a stretch.

Although he did beat Atley in a genuine one on one and set up a goal in the first minute.

What was his output like?
Was told he didn’t get his hands on it much.
Only a few touches, but first touch was a beauty, and just has that quick reaction and speed that makes him stand out in our squad. Having only been at the club a few days, couldn't expect anything of note, but will be interesting seeing how he responds to the AFL/VFL environment over the coming months.
