My son is doing some research in the history of the Footscray area. Just some interesting little scraps he has found out.
We were the first club to come up with a song, and the song meant a lot as we were the salt marsh boys, so it was derived from Sons of the Seas.
The boys from the West constantly would beat the silver spooners, which would mean rules would be created to keep them out, ie cricket. So the recent story about Footscray taking the the red white and blue colours to support the Footscray rowing club that was excluded was true.
Our club is older than both Hawthorn and Norf.
If people are interested I will add the other little scraps that come up.
