My favourite off season thread, time to guess which player gets which vacant number!

New fellas needing a number;
Hunter Clark
Nick Coffield
Oscar Clavarino
Ben Paton
Logan Austin
Rookie Pick 8*

Numbers Vacant:
#11
#12
#24
#33
#38
#45

My opinion;

Brandon White > 11 ( Joey was massive wraps)

12 - I’m thinking probably stays vacant for a season

Logan Austin > 24 (Keep a Defender in it and also Demps cousin!)

31: Hunter Clark

33: Nick Coffield

38: Oscar Clavarino

45: Ben Paton

46: Rookie Pick 8

Generally what they do with draftees is the better selection in the draft the lower number. 2013: Billings 15, Dunstan 36, Acres 40. 2014: McCartin 32, Goddard 33, McKenzie 36, Lonie 38. 2015: Gresham 22, White 31, Rice 37. 2016: Long 21, Battle 26, Phillips 30.

So that can give you a better indication which player will have what.

Dunno about numbers but I'm going for NewShents, NicCoff, OsClav and Template as nicknames for the new boys, Logan Austin will probably get Aussie which is fine by me.

If drafted, Tom Lamb gets Lambykins or Sheepy.

Clark: “SOL”; (Son of Lenny)

Coffield: “The Jackal”; aka the silent assassin.

Clavarino: “Flanders”;... arino...

Paton: “The General”; obvs.

#11 - Logan Austin - Expect him to take Brown's spot form round 1. Please not #24.

#12 - Nick Coffield - From one Nick to another. Future captain.

#24 - Hunter Clark - Might upgrade one day but think it'd suit him. No nonsense.

#33 - Ben Paton - Higher number but something to keep long term.

#38 - Oscar Clavarino - Will probably upgrade to 19/20 in a couple of years.

#45 - Tom Lamb - ROll the dice

Paddy will take the #12. Bookmark it
a fan at the Roeey book launch asked the question about the #12 to Rooey he said he has no say in the matter but his thought was that it would go to someone new to the club as in not reassigned to a player already with a number ...
also interestingly Rooey recalled how when Franky Pecket left the club were keen to move him into the #1 jumper but he wanted to stay at 12 ..

11. Logan Austin
12. Brandon White (he requires a number upgrade, and I prefer not to keep 12 vacant, or give to a key position player)
24. Paddy McCartin (To sit next to great mate Hugh Goddard, also we've had a KPF in Heatley in the number)

Draftees to have their pick of the following numbers
31. Hunter Clark
32. Nicholas Coffield
33. Oscar Clavarino
38. Ben Paton
45. Doulton Langlands

Club tried really hard to change a couple of our KPF numbers last year but were rebuffed. Last I heard Paddy was very comfortable in a “no name” jumper number.
I would personally love to see Paddy play the rest of his career in...

...#32

He chose not to take #4 as he didn't want the added media pressure, in addition to all the flak he had been receiving. He won't want #12 on that same basis.

Should be embracing it. Great players thrive under pressure and id prefer him to say 'Give me the damn number and ill carry the team forward'.
