So what's happening with him? Saints fans and Vic media identities seemed confident early in the week that he was set to stay.

Bergman has signed with Port but still nothing from the NWM camp?

It would involve two future firsts at a minimum. If we’re getting Dougie and Pilot (and if they are as good as people say), then I don’t have an issue with it.

If they aren’t happy, then we should do a Geelong/Collingwood and get his manager to blackmail them into accepting a shitty deal.
Can we trade two future firsts? I thought we would need approval to even do one?

The copium getting around that place is what takes their breath away. They cling on to semi-competent footballers like they're rolled gold superstars of the comp, but I feel this has something to do with their delusion:

I do feel sorry for Saints fans.

Imagine if the Hinkley/Koch experience had been your entire footy life!

Their list really doesn't look great and NAS is the one shining light.

If he goes just before Tassie comes in it really makes it hard to see them winning anything any time soon.

The way we overpay and then get underpaid when we lose players we should ban ourselves from trading. Every time a players changes hands we lose a little more.

If he doesnt sign on by the end of next week Im gonna seriously start dreaming of NWM, Bergman, Butters under Carr in 2026 being a legit possibility.

Berry was Pick 15 last year in arguably a better draft than this year. If Saints were keen on him, I could see us trading Berry, a Future 1st, and a depth player, with perhaps a future 2nd and 3rd round pick coming back to us.

Just saying that even though we don’t have a First Rounder to trade this year, if NAS wants to come home, we will find a way….

In terms of the AFL rules for 2 in 4 first round picks. In spirit I think JHF counts as he was very young, and we have a young list. We are at no threat of bombing out with bad list strategy.

So 2022 JHF, 2023 nothing, 2024 Berry, 2025 nothing, 2026 Cochrane

Port could argue, they don’t need to hold the first rounder to get a first rounder next year.

Considering how much effort went into acquiring Berry, Port aren't gonna trade him away after one season.

That would be a HUGE SLAP to the entire list management and recruitment team. All that trade effort to get GC's first rounder and then trading up again to move two spots to get ahead of Freo to secure Berry.

They should get no more than what we got for Houston
Houston was in contract so that adds extra but pound for pound a 22 year old NWM and 23 yo Bergman with their prime years ahead of them are both worth more than a 27 year old Houston at the time.

Not really. Just means the capital for Houston was in part used to get NWM.

If the AFL Melbourne media are quiet on it now, it's looking quite good for us.

Yes we don't want that to look bad.

His manager Ben Williams has supposedly asked St Kilda to forward a 2 year extension offer, if that's true, you don't do that if you intend to leave.
